Anyone seen Terry Harman? (PixelBite.co.uk)

Posted by DesignBear, 12-09-2009, 09:48 AM
After giving a gleaming review, paying for service upfront and upgrading my hosting package to cover the hosting space I need - my site is now down as is the PixelBite.co.uk site. As their site is also down, I'm going to assume they're hosting on the same server as me - which isn't a good idea at all. Furthermore I haven't seen Terry on MSN for quite some time now. What's EVEN worse, I don't have a backup of the site because of an external hard drive failure around 2 weeks ago and never got round to adding a backup to the new replacement drive. Things not looking good, has anyone happened to seen Terry about? Cheers, Al.

Their main site is not loading for me either. And as you said it is not a good idea to host both client sites and their main/support sites in the same server. That will create many problems for clients. It will create some panic as there is no way to get some help.

Doesn't make it any better that I'm currently trying to sell a few items from my portfolio which I've now had to host thumbnails for on imageshack!

Same problem here..... 2 sites hosted with Terry... and all my email is dead.... I'm sure he'll be working on whatever is wrong - he has always been really fast fixing any issues up to now...

Had an email from him only at the weekend... so he can't be far away...

Yep, I can agree he had stuff sorted out before. But now that I've found his site to be hosted on the same box as mine, no support contact and the fact that I need constant uptime for my portfolio - this is not good.

It seems he has his servers at racksrv.com, which also seems down. There must be a problem at the datacenter.

Ah, I was reading about racksrv.com - I think they keep getting UPS fails.

For anyone else hosting with Terry and has an inaccessible site at the minute - you can keep track of what's happening at http://status.racksrv.com/

It can be a network issue or a power failure ( As MediaFire said ), it doesn't always meant to be on the same server

Mine are back up....

Their sites are in the same facility as EZPZHosting - you can read information on the downtime at: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...=907252&page=2 The information regarding the latest data center issue is at the Post 16.

Glad to hear every thing running fine for you now.

Interesting that this happened today. Though they say it was UPS-related, wonder if it had anything to do with the LINX issues?

Posted by MikeDVB, 12-09-2009, 02:42 PM
No, there were power issues that caused the last outages and this same issue occurred again.

Just finished talking with Terry and i see this thread. Wow Alan, Please appear on IM. Need a quick chat.

No. The LINX issues had nothing to do with datacentre power issues in Kent.

Hey, I'm always on MSN. "Alan - needs a jQuery expert."

Posted by MikeDVB, 12-10-2009, 09:24 AM
jQuery is pretty easy imho - better than doing it all yourself at least

Hey guys, sorry for not replying to the thread earlier. Service has been restored. Yes we had an issue at the Datacenter - RackSRV, thanks alan for posting the status link. Sorry for the downtime, as usual, just pop over an e-mail to me at admin@pixelbite.co.uk and ill issue a months credit on everyones accounts please include your domain and full name when requesting credit. Alan, i'm usually on MSN almost 24/7 if you need to contact me, however recently I have been appearing offline but if you ever need to contact me just send me a message and ill get right back to you As for our site down, we are working on moving our site over to a failover system to when the servers go down we can still keep you updated. -Terry
