WHMCS and PHPBB DB Integration..

I was thinking about whether integrating WHMCS with a PHPBB3 forum (Our community forum) would be a good idea, IE so that clients automatically get a account on our community forums without needing to create one manually. I was thinking it would be good to maybe give them the same user-name but then a automatically generated password for the forum (Different to there client details) for obvious reasons. That way if they needed help and we directed them to the forum's they would not need to create another account. That way we could get a large knowledge-base kind of thing going on the forums with help from other members contributions etc. I know it should be possible with just merging the databases so to speak but i wondered if anybody else had considered or even better, tried and tested this method.. if so how did you go about it. Posted by fshagan, 11-06-2011, 08:30 PM I've given up bridging between applications. The last one I'm using, a Coppermine to SMF bridge, still requires constant maintenance to keep working correctly. Any single update, to any one of the bridged programs, can break the bridge. Users will allow cookies and will auto-login to the forums. I understand the desire to have the customer using the same username, but you have to look at it another way too: if the forum user database gets hacked, your WHMCS user database is also hacked. Or if a user's password to your forums is hacked, then the same password to WHMCS has been hacked. Its one thing to have spam in your forums, and quite another to have a miscreant delete a site or transfer a domain name.
