mod_security - good set of lightweight rules

We're moving from mod_security 1 to 2, and are looking for a good overall set of lightweight mod_sec rules for shared hosting. We tried the fee atomic / gotroot rules, but loading the recommended ones caused each Apache child to bloat from 20 MB to 150+ MB per child. Not sure if this is normal, but it seemed a bit excessive. Any feedback / solid set of stripped down rules would be appreciated.

Its the caching rules, which are used to speed up the processing. If you prefer to use less memory, just drop the malware, antispam and JITP rules.
