outsourcing email

| i have a potential client that would like to start an email list that i don't want to host in a shared enviroment.
any ideas of solutions ie: outsourcing the sending of emails and software to manage the list and content.

| Outsourced e-mailing is generally going to be more expensive than just purchasing a bare bones dedicated server.

| This may be true as far as hard direct prices go - but, if the list is large enough, its much more expensive to do it yourself:
1) hosting providers dont like getting reported as a spam source, even if they are legitimate mail
2) managing RBL's and building the relationships to keep valid email flowing is very time consuming and expensive...
Sure it seems cheaper to just rent a low end server and go from there, but, the reality is, there are alot more prices involved then just the straight monthly fee...

| But not everyone provides features like constantcontact. They can give you statistic when sending emails, that is very good

| 1) has anyone had any experience with any of the outsourcing companies? there seems to be a lot out there with some playing games about final cost.
2) about the bare bones option-is there a good email campaign software out there that could be used for multible customers?

| I havent used constantcontact service, but from some web design companies I know, they seem a good service provider
