Looking for 5 GB HDD / 100 GB traffic and php 5

Posted by markg85, 08-02-2006, 07:37 PM
Hey, i`ve been on webhosting/reseller hosting hunting for a few das now.. and i found my company... i tought.. i wanted to buy a account at zoneserv.com but they don`t offer php 5.. and i need php5!! so that`s why i open up this topic. Now here is a must have list: php 5 (absolute MUST HAVE no php5 = i`m not your customer)mysql (4.x.xx is good.. 5.x.xx is better)5 GB hdd or moremonthly payment monthly contractgood download speeds from the netherlands and usa (atleast 500 kilobytes a second)atleast 100 GB traffic now looking at a hostingcompany like zoneserv i think it`s fair to say that the price for this (without cpanel) MUST be arround the 10$ likely lower than higher. so : Price range for the above stuff: $0 - $10 MAX a month Now here is a list of services that i would like to have but are not must haves: cPanelmysql 5.x.xx Now if it has this cpanel and such it will probly have much other coll things aswell so the price range here would be: $0 - $15MAX Last edited by ldcdc; 08-02-2006 at 10:13 PM.

Your best bet would be to do a search of past forum topics. So many folks here ask for something similar, so chances are a search will reveal some solutions.

i did a search and i`m still searching and i do find alot good things.. but they ALL have php 4.. i didn`t encounter one php5 which applies to my demands.. so if anyone knows a good reseller account which meets my demands... please say it here

There are plenty of resellers out there with PHP5 but your budget is a bit too light for the space and bandwidth you want

I recall reading that Asmallorange has PHP5 but probably nothing in your budget.

i am little confused.. you want reseller hosting or general web hosting or single hosting account with multiple domains.. bcoz the way you are listing your requirements.. its not like a regular reseller thing..

You're asking a fair bit for a mere $10 a month.. Up your budget to something like $20 and you should find a lot more hosts in your budget. We webhosts have to make a living too.

If you want a reliable web host, you would need to up your budget a little. Especially if you want reseller hosting, you would need a budget of at least $25 + to get a reliable web host.

You must increase your budget if you are looking for a reliable provider. Go away from cheap hosting companies. You can use the search function of WHT to find reseller hostings. Also we are working with Hostdime for several weeks and we are glad from their services at this time.

As everyone mentioned, your budget is way too low. We wouldn't do it even at a few times your current budget.

Check out some of the top rated reseller hosts over at HostSearch.com, you'll be sure to find a long term quality web host. If you're just aiming for price and willing to take a risk with quality, check out some of the rock bottom costs the WHT HostQuote feature can get you.

oke lets say that i double my budget... what prividers are getting in my range with that? double = $20 - $30 max and for the hosting type where im looking for.. i don`t realy care if it`s a reseller or just a normal shared hosting.. as long as it has what i requested in the first post any type is good if it has those. and for everyone that said that this package requeres a higher price range.. i elieve that but those company`s that offer packages like i requested for $30 or more are just HIGH with the costs.. 20 is even high for this. i can know it because i`ve had a server with leaseweb and i`ve worked there. at this moment you can buy a dedicated server there for just 49$ with a 100mbit backport and 2000GB high volume traffic. more info on it is here: http://www.leaseweb.com/index.php?p=dedipromo1 i`ve had a server with them for 6 months and was verry happy about it.. but my low linux knowledge at that time together with no more interest for the site that was on it caused me to abort the serber. but lets just pretent that i buy such a server again.. i would be able to offer what i`m currently looking for for just: $ 12.50,- that you would have this: 200.000 MB traffic 5 GB HDD php5 --------------------------------------------- that package can be sold 10 times on that server alone that means 125$ that you get with the server and that means about 70$ pure profit!!! so don`t tell me this isn`t possible for a low price. i just need to find the right sites and that`ds why you see this topic

good download speeds from the netherlands and usa (atleast 500 kilobytes a second) hmm i doubt you will have that download speeds, but you can try dathorn.com or dotable.com. both should be ok for your needs, btw. it will not be easy to find a reputable host providing mysql5 i think.

Posted by markg85, 08-05-2006, 07:46 PM
Thanx for the reply erogo both can indeed fill my needs but not in the price range or if anyone wants to buy a dedicated server with me from leaseweb that would not just be oke but awsome!!

well from my experience with webhosts you will not find good services below dathorn costs with comparable account sizes. got burned few times until ill realized that you really get what you pay ;-)

There have been so many debates on overselling, etc. You don't seem to understand that we don't simply pay for the server, but : Control PanelsBilling softwareTicket support systemStaffServer Admins/Server HardeningAnd much, much more This isn't a simple buy a server, slap something together and sell hosting. Many webhosts are in this to make a living and not to offer you something that is merely convenient to you. Your new budget makes a fair bit more sense, but I still think it's too cheap.

it can almost all be done with free things (host)control panel: http://www.vhcs.net/new/ Billing system: http://www.solid-state.org/ Ticket system: http://www.osticket.com/ Staff: when you start you are alone or with a friend. no problem with that.. the problems come when the company gets known and alot of accounts are being selled Server Admins/Server Hardening: look the previous one And much, much more: oh what? about the overselling.. if you look closely i`m not overselling 1 byte with the possible account that i posted in my previous post. For the software packages listed above.. a few years ago you couldn`t get arround with a hosting company if you didn`t have a hosting panel.. back than the only good panels where paid panels.. now you will still need a panel BUT now there is atleast 1 verry good free alternativs: VHCS And for the webmail Roundedcube is the best alternative that i can think of.. it looks good works fast but is still in beta.. i seriously think that it`s possible the way i said it and i would like to try it with one other person just to prove that it`s possible. i think the accounts for the server will be sold out in no time with the price i listed. If anyone wants to join me
