ResellerZoom / ResellersPanel / ??? question

Posted by Jonaid, 09-11-2006, 11:54 AM
Hi all, Firstly, nice place you have here. Long like lerker first time poster. I'm looking into becoming a reseller offering free hosting and then perhaps moving up. I've narrowed down my selection to ResellerZoom and ResellersPanel. I like the look of Resellers Panel plan. Large amount of bandwidth/space for not alot. (Looking to start less then $10/mo atm. Raise that once i get going hopefully) but I noticed a few problems and limitations on their plans. Mainly the 30 subdomains, 4 mysql dbs + 45mb quota and 5 FTP accounts. Is it even possible to run an effective reseller account of this deal!? For ResellerZoom, i can't see any problems atm and am readying a few positvie reviews (still looking) but they're offering less then Resellers Panel and other resellers. Any advice on Reseller Panel or anything else i should know? What about other resellers like Turnkey? My orignal plan was to go with them but I see posts regarding downtime and what not so i'm so sure any more. Jonaid

Jonaid - ResellerZoom is an awesome company with awesome support. Not only do they provide you with quality support but starting with their advance plans - they will even provide direct support to your clients if you wish. Just something to consider. They have 24/7 live support as well to assist your needs. Now the customer service and billing are only M-F 6 to 6p CST. Which is beginning to be normal practice for most host. Many resellers won't allow free accounts because of the issues that normally comes with free accounts. Be cautious and find out more from RZ directly on this before you make your final decision. They are more than willing to discuss any limitations they might have with you. I assure you though they are set in place only to ensure security for your clients and a level of performance. Wish you the best.

ok that was one quick response! >2mins! This is what they said, for anyone who's wondering, Looks like I can't use them unfortunately. The response does hit home alot of points i need to make sure doesn't happen on my hosting. Especially number 4 and 5

Hi, Most reseller hosting wont allow you to host spammers/fraud sites such as fake bank sites, phishing emails for ebay/paypal and so on. Your best bet is to scan all your orders manually to prevent doing any damage to the server you're on and risking account suspension and thats true in many cases. Good luck

Lastcentury please let us know what domain you have hosted with connect-hosting.

I am sorry to hear that RZ won't work out for you. I am sad to say though that many of your top host providers will not provide you with a reseller account for free service. Normally the only host that will do this - is one that offers free hosting in some fashion as well. You might want to check into som VPS or Dedicated for what you are wanting. That way - the responsibility relies on you.

Jonaid, The plan that you are mentioning from ResellersPanel is actually not a reseller plan. It is just shared hosting plan that can be offered by a reseller using ResellersPanel's free reseller program. The ResellersPanel cPanel reseller plans are available at http://www.resellerspanel.com/cpanel_program/ . Hope that helps! Good luck!
