Which has better uptime: ResellerZoom (failover) or The Grid Layer?
Posted by pythonrocks, 11-18-2006, 11:29 AM |
I need the best uptime possible. Which provider has better uptime: ResellerZoom (failover) or The Grid Layer? Any other suggestion? (I need cPanel/WHM).
Thanks,

Both companies have launched failover services recently (less a month), so there is no any indication or stats who has better uptime...
On the other hand, they are different kind of companies :
- RZ provides services to resellers / web developers
- TGL provides services to hosting companies (and the hosting companies to resellers)

If you need failover cpanel hosting like what resellerzoom offers, I do not think you will find any other.
There are plenty of cpanel reseller hosting companies out there, do a search on www.hostsearch.com

Hi,
Both uptime should be the same since it is on the same bandwidth network so if there are any network outage that will be your weak point. In regards to the two solutions offered. I could be wrong though...

There is also HostTitan.com

Yes, and HostTitan has been doing this for quite a while...longer than HostingZoom/ResellerZoom at least.
LT's TGL solution is to eliminate hardware issues being a cause of downtime - but unless you actually "cluster" two cPanel systems you won't be protected for issues with Apache failing, etc.

They have the cpanel cluster setup in beta now and they said it may be released to the public by the end of the year.

Correct, however my point was that you can't really compare ResellerZoom's solution to TGL - as they are quite different. (though I do personally prefer TGL)

Is TGL similar to Mosso's enterprise cluster or is it different ?

Mosso's is clustering.. not failover. Basically, Mosso is Rackspace's attempt to mimic the system they used for so long: H-Sphere.
There's a lot of talk about the "new" failover and clustered options, but this is not new despite what the companies in question will tell you. I know 30 companies, just off the top of my head, that have been operating under that environment for two or more years.
Look outside the WHT forum and you'll find a lot of "new" options for clustered or "failover" solutions.

Hey there is one from Layeredtech too, they have a HA Grid system and you can install a controlpanel in it too.
