I see following message in /var/log/messages and my node load has gone high kernel: 3w-9xxx: scsi0: AEN: ERROR (0x04:0x0009): Drive timeout detected:port=0 What can be done to fix this issue ? Why is this error showing up ?

This mean hard drive on port 0 went bad. You need to replace it and rebuild the raid array.

I also see below message kernel: "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.

You better change the hard drive before it is too late. Especially if this is only Raid-1 configuration. Normally 3ware will start rebuilding the raid array automatically if you have not changed anything.

Hopefully when you built the server / the person you bought it from labelled the drives. Drive timeout means either the drive has failed, or you used a desktop-grade drive which can timeout on raid cards.
