Sending emails from social network site

What is a better way or company to use to send emails from a small social network site, for example when you reply on a post on facebook you get email on your registerd email saying someone has commented. we have a site on test and it works from gmail, but we want to be able to send from our domain. Would Exchange server work. If we use dedicated hosting can we use their email server?

Any email server will do.
For a better delivery of your bulk mails:
1. Contact Yahoo/Hotmail/etc. and fill-in the form for bulk delivery (some sort of white listing).
2. Setup a strict SPF record for your domain.
3. Setup DomainKeys for your domain too.
4. Then of course, a reverse DNS record for the IP of your email server.
