Help finding a reseller
Posted by eNforcer, 09-26-2007, 08:50 PM |
Ya I did do a bunch of browsing and searching around but I need a more specific answer from experienced reseller users.
I'm moving from a VPS server and made a full cPanel backup of every account I created for people in WHM. All are small in size, about 60 mb, except for my own which is 1GB.
I have e-mailed a few hosts so far, a couple said it isn't possible and resellerzoom.com said they could do it if I requested it, but I can't do it myself. Now, ResellerZOOM looks very promising and I get awesome speeds downloading off their test file. I will probably go with them if I can't find anywhere else.
What I would like to know is has anybody used a reseller host that allows you to import full cPanel backups using WHM?
I really want the ability to import full backups myself for the future.

That's a pretty big change going from a VPS to resellers account.
How much was your VPS?
What's your budget for a resellers account?

To answer your question:
Usually a host can restore it for you via ssh. You just need to ask them if they can do it. All you need to do is just to upload the backup files via ftp.

The VPS was the $90 package from asmallorange (oh my god they are awesome). But I just can't afford it and I only used it for the 512mb of ram cause my forum has lots of AJAX crap on it, the rest of the resources went to waste.
My budget would be around $30-$40.
Main reason I want a reseller is for the large bandwidth options most hosts provide and WHM for the users I am hosting

It would be hard to find a reseller hosting provider that can provide you Full Site Restore feature with your reseller account but most of the hosting provider will do it for free, if you request.

What you need to do is upload cpanel backup file to the server and the host will restore the backup for you.
This can be done in 12 hours or less depends on the number of websites to be restored.

ok, I will try that then. I'm going to purchase the Failover F-1 pack from ResellerZOOM and see how it goes. They have a 30 day money back guarantee if it doesn't work out.

Usually to be able to restore backups in WHM you have to have root access. But, just about any host can restore them for you as long as you are moving from a cPanel server to a cPanel server.

You just need to upload your backups to the new server and open a ticket at the helpdesk. RZ will get your accounts restored for you.
As far as I know, they will restore 30 accounts for free and above which you have to pay a small amount per account.
Also, if you are still having your VPS running, you don't have to even upload your backups. They can do it for you with a couple of clicks.
