Backup - how should this work?

Ive been looking to consolidate some of my services - mainly backup. I currently have one server at QuickPacket, running ProxMox using a single 1TB RE3 drive with Dual Intel Xeon L5420s I also have VPS at OneProvider, but I am fine with moving this if necessary. I am currently looking into backing up the server at QuickPacket (not the entire 1TB, around 5-7GB of data and config files). Would it be better to get a Enterprise-class VPS service to backup the quickpacket server to, or get a rsync account like bqbackup? The VPS will also serve things that I need offsite from the server (i.e. status monitoring, zabbix, .etc .etc) Last edited by dolphinaura; 09-24-2012 at 12:14 PM.

You could also consider R1Soft CDP backups. The major advantage of R1Soft CDP would be that if your hard drive failed, you could do a bare-metal restore to a new drive, which would get you back up and running more quickly.

R1Soft is too costly - I limit myself to spending 100CAD/month on all my web services in total . Though, that did give me an idea - backup to a R1Soft protected VPS....

Is cPanel installed on the server you want to take backup of?
