Advice on reseller
Posted by clov78, 11-20-2007, 02:33 PM |
Hey folks,
I'm looking to set up a reseller account. I've got another full time job and a kid to take care of, so I don't have a lot of time to research every single company that's out there. I've set up an account with Innohosting. They seem to be a good fit for me, and I haven't seen too much negative about them on this site. What they offer pretty much fits my budget and wish list; however, their storage space and bandwidth seems a little low.
I've hosted some with iPowerweb and had a pretty good experience. Right now they're offering 300GB of space for $4.95 a month. They have a reseller program, but I don't like it as much as Innohosting's setup, plus iPower's SSL certificates are too expensive, and they don't let you install 3rd party certificates.
What do you think? Is Innohosting's storage space and bandwidth about average for the industry? Should I stick with iPower, or should I use someone else?
Any advice will save me precious time to help take care of my kid and do real work like design web sites.

clov78,
I keep it short, as you might get tons of other replies saying the same; do a search on overselling and see what it means, then make up your mind with who you want to go.
Hope this helps you in the right direction.

Don't be too swayed by huge amount of bandwidth and space, its high to get you in however the reality of using what is offered is not quite there. As 040Hosting said, look up overselling. So you really have to look at more of the features you are getting, which from what you are saying you prefer Innohosting.
If you aren't having any problems with your current host, stick with them and move up to more space and bandwidth as you grow.

Whether our costs are the "industry norm" is a question I'll leave for the commmunity to answer..
However the reason we don't price our plans so low and sell hundreds of gigabytes for next to nothing is simply because our costs take into account the cost of delivering our solutions and promises. Server prices, staff prices, licensing fees, paying suppliers and host of other expenses which are all factored in..
Great that you are considering us!

I've spent some more time looking around here and on the web, and you guys (Innohosting) appear to be very resonably priced - maybe a bit lower than many of the resellers out there.
I actually just signed up with you and am in the process of setting stuff up and migrating a few accounts. So far your support has been stellar. Hopefully it stays that way.
BTW - how long have you been in business?

The offer must be judged for its total value, and being the norm or more than it. End user support is a cost that other reseller hosting providers don't have.

If you are getting into resellership , as what i think select company that can provide you best support and to whom you can directly any time and speak to them. As a reseller your clients can ask you anything and you should be able to reply to them in small time. If your client has issue and he forwards it to you and you forward to your parent company. If parent company replies after 24 hrs till that time will you be able to hold your customer.
Don't carry off with huge space and bandwidth that's just marketing skill to pull you.
Even i can say i can offer you 1000Gb of space no matter my server can have only 300GB HDD. As i know you will hardly use not more then 1Gb of real data and if you use more these companies will just throw you up saying you are using lots of server resources.

If i were you i would never go for a host who offer hosting space over 100 GB on shared severs, and that means only one thing "EXSSESIVE OVER SELLING OF SEVERS" so insted of falling for the quanitity think abt the quality

Today all top companies offer 300Gb+ space as overselling. And users are buying even they know overselling term. We get almost 3-4 clients every day comparing with these host. And it becomes difficult to market and sale.
