Searching for reseller hosting with end user support
Posted by code_renegade, 07-01-2009, 05:20 AM |
Hi guys,
I'm looking for a reliable reseller hosting company to work with which will give me room to grow.
I've checked out the hosting offers and did some searches, but I'm interested in hearing about your personal experiences.
The criteria for my reseller hosting account must be that they offer end user support (with a response time of 1 hour or less), and they offer a domain reseller account as well. In terms of space and bandwidth, I'm not too concerned about that because initial growth will be slow.
If I get a Master Reseller Account i.e. I can create reseller accounts, that'd be a nice bonus. Not necessary, but just a nice bonus to have.
I am currently a happy VPS customer with Wiredtree. Alas, they don't offer what I need, otherwise I'd have gone for an upgrade with them or something
Looking forward to your recommendations, guys!

Do you have a monthly budget in mind for the reseller account? Any certain control panel you would like? Webspace/bandwidth requirements?
There has been a surge of "companies" offering end user support. I believe the best way is to find out how each are set up to deliver end user support on how many customers they are delivering end user support to. It's when things are larger that it really matters as it shows the host has taken into account scalability of the support and not just introduced it without any planning..
Some have it set up with email piping, in such a case you wouldn't normally be able to respond to the clients or even see what is going on, if the answers are being sent in time etc.
Some will login to your support desk manually, for a small scale this would be fine, but for a larger scale, it's not really viable to login to every desk manually..

Hmmm, for cp, I guess I'd like to stick with WHM/Cpanel, since it is the most common cp after all.
In terms of diskspace/bandwidth, I think I'd like to start with at least 10Gb of storage, and 100Gb of bandwidth. My budget is $50/month, but I'm willing to go higher if the company has a good end user support track record.
As for how end user support is handled, I'm okay with not seeing the back-and-forth support emails at all. Anonymous email support or white-label helpdesk, it's all good. I pretty much have no preference as long as I know my end users are well taken care of.

You can try resellerzoom.com, innohosting.com, odishahosting.com which are some of the providers that offer end user support. With odishahosting.com you should be able to get a VPS with end user support for your budget.

With regards to resellerzoom.com, I can't seem to find any plans with end user support included?

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that it comes standard with the "advance" reseller plans.

End user support is no longer standard at Resellerzoom but an "add-on" for which they charge extra. You can still get support for all the questions you have and your client have but that has to go through you (were you file the tickets) and no longer direct from your client to RZ.

You can also check Jodohost - they use H-sphere control panel, clustered servers (your clients will be spread in various servers and not in only 1 big server). It is more reliable and risk free for your business. The end user support is just 50 cents per month per client. And you can also resell windows etc.

Look at Innohosting offers. We see positive reviews about them mostly on WHT. They have end user support and have a solution called irpanel to sell reseller hosting under reseller.

i wouldn't recommend a master reseller account because those softwares tend to be risky because of bad coding and usually master reseller providers are in the business for short term profit - and for all you know, they could be an alpha master reseller themselves.
do research before doing anything drastic as you could regret it later on
good luck finding something

Well just because you have expeirenced this doesnt mean that they are not good. A master reseller is a great plus as he also mentioned. But in some cases your correct but i wouldnt just point blank not recommend them just because of that. I think on everything you need to research and thats the only way to make your self feel comfortable.

I'm not trying to say ALL master resellers are bad - I'm saying most of them are just little kids trying to get money for a new video game or something - I'd say 98% are like that and 2% are legit and you'll know because they are the ones not offering Unlimited space/bw master resellers for $5/yr.
but again, both of our comments are just pure opinions

Keep in mind you can get a Dedicated Server with Cpanel/WHM and then you have your "Master Reseller" option right there with WHM and no risky coding issues

While not exactly reseller hosting, Mosso provided end user support a few years ago for a fee. I believe they still do.

Yep, I emailed ResellerZoom and was told that end user support is charged on a per-ticket basis (pre-packaged) which you have to pay on top of your reseller account.
I do see a number of people voting Innohosting. Can anyone share their personal experience with me?
