Comparing twenty-buck plans: BlueWho, InnoHosting, CrucialParadigm

I have an account with HTTPme and need a 'backup' account with some other host as good as httpme Dotable used to be great, but after it was sold the quality of service plummeted. So tons of posts were digged while looking for a match to HTTPme. Here's the shortlist: Crucial Paradigm BlueWho InnoHosting Yet while comparing the the basic ($20/month) plans I was really surprised to see significant differences in HDD space/bandwidth offered... Look: [Host | HDD | Bandwidth] crucialp.com | 30GB | 600GB * innohosting.com | 10GB | 200GB bluewho.com | 4GB | 60GB All three hosting providers listed above have sound reputations for providing very good service, however I wonder how it is possible to make such different offers given that the price and quality of service is the same. Are there any catches in innohosting's and crucialp's offers?! Am I missing something? A year ago no experienced buyer would go for 30GB/600GB/$20 offer knowing that it sounds to good to be true. Can that be a reliable deal these days?

Can't say for sure, but some oversell more than others. I wouldn't count on being allowed to use 600GB of BW, but you never know. Make sure to read the TOS of each of the hosts to be aware of any restrictions they may have placed on resource usage and types of files you can upload.

I'd go with InnoHosting if I were you. The owner holds a pretty solid reputation here on WHT and is quite active. Of course I don't have any experience with them before but I'm sure you'll find quite a few positive reviews on them just by searching WHT.

It is based on those reviews that I have shortlisted InnoHosting. Yet there are also bunch of nice reviews both on BlueWho and Crucial Paradigm

Exactly. My paranoid mode is always on when shopping for hosting, so these sort of unbelievable offers raise some red flags to me. Thanks for the advice. I compared their policies on acceptable use. The only difference of crucialp from other two, that their policy explicitely prohibits using more than 5% of server resources by an account.

You need to take into account whether overselling is enabled or not. When overselling is enable, that assumes you can use all the disk space and bandwidth allocated. When overselling is not enabled, you can allocate all the disk space and bandwidth allocated but provider expects you to use only a portion of the quota.

Thanks for the tip: Crucial Paradigm stresses that overselling is NOT enabled. I thought that meant that the resources allocated can be used in the fullest. Anyway, I decided to go with InnoHosting: looks like the most reasonable option to me. Last edited by Shorshor; 09-10-2009 at 06:04 AM.

Thanks for the thread. I have been looking for a BlueWho alternative for a while now. Nothing wrong with Bluewho really, I have been with them for 7 years or so now, except for one thing: $20 = 4GB - 60GB BW need more? Pay $10, get 1GB and 15GB BW! I remember reading a thread on here, comparing that kind of stuff like going to McDonalds and ordering a combo for $10, then asking for an extra soda and being asked for extra $10. BlueWho is awesome, just that lil thing is what I can't understand. I'll try InnoHosting, will keep BlueWho of course, will let you know how it goes in a couple months. Cheers.

I'm also a Bluewho (2 accounts) & Inno (1 account) customer - looks like a solid setup to me. I think I have been with Bluewho for more than 8 years now but I should check.

Just checked; actually I've only been with them for slightly more than 6 years (still, I was on their first server).
