Using S3 for WHM/CPanel backup storage

I have some windows VPS (one of them in Amazon EC2) that also have ftp service enabled on them, so I was wondering if I can use them to store my CPanel backups. As diskspace on VPS providers is not cheap, I was thinking in mounting a S3 bucket and store my ftp files there. What do you think? Would it be too slow?

I did this for a few years using s3 and rsync. It worked pretty well, but ended up moving to R1Soft. It should be ok.

I've got clients who follow this method as part of their contingency plans. Don't see where you'd run into any trouble.
