Server Management
Posted by Colbyte, 03-09-2014, 11:58 PM |
Since running multiple servers can be time consuming ensuring setup's are correct on all servers does anyone use a management software for Linux? Puppet, Chef, SaltStack, anything else?
Opinions? Looking for the best solution for managing and having a consistent config across servers.

We use puppet.
Its really helpful and efficient when managing 100's of servers.

I've been looking at a few. Wasn't sure how much help it would be. Puppet may be the best as SaltStack is complicated. Time to dive into Puppet OS

We have been always using puppet and so can't make a comparison.
We are happy with puppet, but let's see what others say.

Puppet is the best way out. You are able to keep track of almost every aspect of the system with puppet.
We use it across many projects and servers we manage.

We've compared Chef and Puppet and decided to go with Puppet (community edition). Works really well so far and is very easy to extend/adapt. Haven't looked at other solutions.
