Looking for Reseller

Posted by RoeTech, 10-05-2011, 10:12 AM
I am looking into the Webhosting reseller game. I currently have 3 clients that want me to host there site. I have my business site with Godaddy (ssssllloooowwwww) and will more than likely change that too. What I am looking for is advice on who is a reliable, US based reseller program that is relatively cheap (I understand you get what you pay for so I am open to suggestions). I am looking to put more sites up as I develop them. The current sites are pretty average with low traffic\popularity. They are small word of mouth businesses. Specs of the reseller plan should be pretty normal (50 - 70GB space, 500+ GB of bandwidth, nothing major on the programming side other than Joomla). I am new to this so go easy on the newbie I will be using this as a revenue stream so reliability is VERY important. I have looked at tons of programs but I would rather people speak from experience. I "hear" hostgator name a lot but have read some pretty bad reviews.... Am I wrong??? Thank in advance!

I think there are a few additional questions that need to be answered first. Do you need the hosting provider to provide a billing system? Do you need end-user support? Do you have a preferred location? What price point are you looking to hit? On a note about the reviews, every company is going to have them and with more customers you are going to get even more of them. You need to look at the fact are their a few, hundreds, thousands or tens of thousands of bad reviews on a company who has over x.x million domains. I personally do not prefer mega host (they tend to squeeze clients on to servers) because of speeds.

I recommend you gazzin.com reseller plans. I like their stability and performance so think you can also try it.

I would prefer they provide a billing system (just easier that way). I would like End-User support as well. Location only needs to be a US based company\server. I am not sure what you mean by price point? If you mean what will I charge? I would like to be competative with the market (few bells and whistles around $4.99 - $6.99 month) Hope this helps?

What is your budget for the reseller plan? Providing a billing system and end-user support will have the plan cost more.

Do lots of research before you commit to any plan. There are lots of providers out there that fall far short of the mark when it comes to providing service and support you and your customers will be content with.

I would like to stay between $19 and $30 per month (if this is possible)

Billy: I agree. Lots of reviews but it's hard to sort through all of them. Any suggestion?

I no longer recommend hosts because their service and support changes regularly. I can only tell you to search the few posts I have here and not deal with the hosts I have left negative comments about.

Give HawkHost or MDDhosting a shot. Both great companies. CloudLinux, LiteSpeed, and R1Soft backups. Fast, secure servers and great support. You can't go wrong with either.
