any experiences with magicspam.com?

I need to improve the detection rate of my email server (based on WHM/CPanel), however it seems that I can´t use RBLs because the last time I enabled it (yesterday) it started to block lots of valid emails.
So I was thinking of using something not based on RBLs (including spamassassin), so I was wondering if magicspam could help me here.
Is anybody else here using this service?

I have no experience with magicspam, but I'm not sure why you can't use RBL's. If it is blocking lots of valid emails, then it sounds like an overall configuration problem, rather then a problem with the RBLs themselves.
A good spam blocking solution will use a combination of tactics and tools, including RBLs.

You could have been using the wrong RBLs. Generally only spamcop and spamhaus are reliable.
Alternatively you may be able to configure spamassassin to use RBLs for scoring rather than blocking at SMTP (initial receipt) time. This is a lot more expensive CPU-wise.

At first I enabled Zen RBL(at CPanel EXIM config) but after I also noticed that URIBL_RHS_DOB and URIBL_AB_SURBL are reporting false positives.
These rules: URIBL_RHS_DOB | URIBL_AB_SURBL are from Spam Assassin.

Hi there
when MagicSPAM is working it seams to do a good job. When it works.
On our Debian Linux Server it was deactivated automatically after 6 days without notification.
I found out later. So I payed for it one month, but it worked only a half month. I stared it again. 4 days later it was off again. Of course I found out later, so it was again not working several days.
Maybe Plesk Updates or Linux Update might be the reason, why it is suddenly not working. That is, what the support was telling me.
Of course I do not want to check my server by hand every day if MagicSpam is running or maybe not.
Then I got some mails that the license key can not update. So I fear that MagicSPAM is turing off again automatically.
The support team could not help. All they ask is to get root access to our server
MagicSPAM maybe good software - bad and buggy license management.

Hi,
The way the MagicSpam is build to check the mail and things has to be cleared by the provider itself because after all, they might also be dependent on some sort of database from others, as it is not possible to have all the database at their own place to refer to. When it comes to RBL check, the IP reputation is what checked. I guess you should contact the MagicSpam support to get more in depth details on this..
