server messages go to hotmail junk & gmail spam folders (WHM/Cpanel)
Posted by HuMan-BiEnG, 03-19-2016, 11:05 AM |
Hello there,
we have purchased a new server, & all messages from the server go to hotmail junk & gmail spam folders
we have do & verified the following points in order to solve the problem :
1) server main IP address doesnt black-listed
2) server main IP address reputation is good
3) SPF is installed for each domain & subdomain (including main server hostname)
4) DKIM is installed for each domain & subdomain (including main server hostname)
5) rDNS is set for our main server IP address
6) no DNS problem exists
the following is the reply message that we get when sending to "check-auth@verifier.port25.com" :
does having two name servers on the same IP address can be the root cause for this problem ?
any help will be appreciated
please accept my best regards,,

SpamAssassin is rating it as ham, perhaps based on the content and/or format.

I believe if you have SpamAssassin you can use it to give you details on the score.
For Hotmail by the way, your best bet is to subscribe to Microsoft's JMRP and SNDS programs. They tend to block freely unless you're registered with them.

Consider to add an SPF record to the domain names that are being blocked. It helps SPAM filters to determine whether an e-mail was sent from an authorized server or not. E-Mails that test positive for the SPF entry can pass filters more easily.

Actually your spamassassin score should be as low as possible, so below 0 if possible.
When it hits a score of 5 and above even your own server will reject it.

Hello Hosting4Real
so what "5.0 required" refer to ?
|
Posted by Hosting4Real, 03-20-2016, 05:35 AM |
That SpamAssassin requires a score of 5.0 or above to reject mail.

Sorry, I was missing the SPF.
Your SpamAssassin score is perfectly o.k. As Hosting4Real said in your configuration it needs to be 5.0 to be assessed as SPAM. The "ham" in your analysis means "NO SPAM", "good mail, let it pass".
On installations that have stricter anti-spam settings, users often choose 3 points instead of 5 (because in many control panels that's the value when users select a "more strict" setting for anti-spam), but even for 3 points your mail is below. A 2.6 score is a typical score for normal mail. No need to worry about that.
Your mails will likely go to hotmail and other Microsoft services' junk folders, because MS operates their own anti-spam mechanism and is blocking like crazy. We are experiencing the same issue as they have blocked large IP ranges, no matter if the single IP/server is actually sending SPAM or not. It is impossible to unblock a single IP in that case. We are also registered with their SNDS program and had frequently asked for single IPs to be removed from their black lists, but of course they are not reacting to it. Very similar for GMail.
The best chance that you have is that your end users (mail recipients) add your sender's addresses to their white lists / address books.

Hello Bitpalace
does having two name servers on the same IP address can cause this reason ?
|
Posted by Bitpalace, 03-20-2016, 06:46 AM |
The number of name servers does not affect the SPAM score.

it is not because of spam score, as confirmed my spam score is very good
