Required: Reliable UK Host offering Cpanel/WHM/WHMCS reseller packages.

As title really, I'm with HostGator and have been pretty much since they first started! They've always had fantastic uptimes (can't recall a downtime in fact) and I have found their support second to none. The only issues I have with them is their 25 process limit (which is hit very quickly when using IMAP) and their location causing various connectivity issues from the UK. One of my clients can't edit their WP site because of timeouts which are found within HG's network. But HG reject the idea and have done nothing about it, although they confirmed that the tracert did show it was within HG! It's remained an issue for over 6 months now, so it's time to go elsewhere as this is an important client. I have a VPS with Heart Internet (a rebranded webfusion I believe) which I have tested the same WP site on and it has worked perfectly, very fast etc. I would have been interested in their reseller packages if it wasn't for the fact they don't use the cPanel/WHM/WHMCS combo and that they limit their e-mail storage to allow them to offer expensive 'premium' e-mail accounts. I have also read up on this forum about Heart Internet and people don't seem to rate them. Which is why I'm now thinking of dropping my plans on using the VPS as a reseller solution. EZPZ Hosting was on the top of my list, but when I call I just get an answerphone which isn't selling it for me. Also looking at their service history it appears they have serious issues with ddos attacks for which they have no protection over. I can't afford to loose loyal customers over that. I'm looking to spend up to £50 on a good reseller account, I was spending £24 on HostGator which I was exceptionally happy with until the above issues came about. I'm open to the idea of using a VPS running cPanel etc, but benefit/cost would play a role. I currently host around 30 clients all on WordPress sites, average visitors per month is around 5,000-7,000 and the sites consist of up to 25 pages. So nothing too demanding! I design most sites using CSS whenever possible reducing the number of images to improve load times etc so bandwidth isn't going to be major. Thanks in advance!

Hostgator does not offer UK servers. It will make sense if you purchase a reseller or vps account with some UK company that will give you good ping time and I think that will help you in SEO too. Below you will find some good names in UK hosting provides HeartInternet Ltd Webhost UK Ltd Webhosting UK Ltd EZPZ is also option but they don't seem to be registered in UK.

Yes I know HG are in the US which is one of the reasons for the move. I'm happy to see that Heart are on your list as I actually have a VPS with them that I used for testing which I planned on running as an alternative to a preset reseller package. I have to say I can't really fault them other than the fact that their live chat system is only for sales. The performance is very good so far as is the price. I'm not 100% convinced though as (a) I can't make use of their reseller package as it doesn't use cPanel/WHM/WHMCS and (b) I find very mixed reviews on WHT. Their uptime seems to be highish, historically. I think I read it's something like 99.8% over the last 12 months. EZPZ Hosting seem to have issues with DDOS attacks which brings down their services... I can't afford that to happen as often as it has.

How much space and bandwidth are you after? Probably more cost effective to get a decent reseller account than a VPS, especially once you factor in licences.

Well WHMCS isn't overly important as I invoice my customers for other related services. cPanel on the VPS is under £10 per month. I was looking at zpanelcp though which is free. I would like around 50gb storage and 150gb bandwidth I guess... With the ability to increase.

I have a reseller hosting account with http://www.rshosting.com and have been their customer for almost 1.5 years now. In the last 1.5 years, I must say, I have been more than happy and satisfied for being with them, for the only reason of excellent quality of their web hosting and support. I have not experienced any downtime with them, except during the scheduled server maintenance once in a while which I have been informed well in advance. They also offer end user support, and that serves as an additional benefit for my customers, as I get their knowledgable admins to help my customers (since I do not have enough technical knowledge). I will highly recommend them for their outstanding services.

Hi SparrowPanda, How is the speed of sites at rshosting especially for dynamic ones like WP, joomla? Do you know what the resource limits are, e.g ram/cpu per account? Thanks

You seem to have a good monthly budget have you thought about using vps.net? You can increase or decrease your resources as required and they have UK and US locations with cPanel/WHM available.

UnitedHosting Clook End of thread.

Agreed!

http://eurovps.com is a solid option. They don't include WHMcs in their packages, but it's better to grab your own WHMcs license. http://SurpassHosting.com (A division of HostDime) is yet another reliable option, I think they do provide a WHMcs license.

www.ezpzhosting.co.uk have great reviews around WHT.

Clook is way out of his budget for an VPS - They have only one VPS plan: £120 including VAT per month. Try InnoHosting

Posted by Trip, 03-03-2013, 09:54 AM
Huh? From what I see they have 3(http://www.clook.net/services/managed-vps). And who said the OP needed to run a VPS right now anyways?... And my recommendations fall perfectly in line with that request, in the context of a *reseller* account. And on cost/benefit, he'd have to go to a mid-tier VPS at the very least to get the power of a well-optimized reseller shared environment. So pointing the OP towards a potentially underpowered or lower quality solution just to meet budget constraints might not be the best route to take. I stick by my recommendation of a higher-powered, less-oversold reseller scenario for right now, as long as they can meet the billing and email requirements mentioned. Just get things up and running in an environment where you don't have to think about being responsible for and/or paying for extra management, get an idea of your actual storage and throughput numbers, and then you can upgrade from there if need be. Gently does it - no need to be confrontational I made comment on a clook VPS based on the fact that the OP is running an VPS. Moreover, someone suggested Clook. Clook indeed does offer three VPS plans - the cheapest at £120 inc VAT. How they can justify their costs with their VPS specs, is another matter entirely.

Have you considered HostDime UK reseller / managed VPS packages?

Posted by Trip, 03-03-2013, 01:57 PM
No confrontation intended. I would suspect the justification comes in the form of support and uptime. Or at least I would hope so!

Was asked before but how much bandwidth/diskspace does this require? I'd certainly add Vidahost to my list to look at, I have a great deal of respect for what they have done there.

Hi! I suggest considering Webhostingbuzz.co.uk for reseller hosting (http://www.webhostingbuzz.co.uk/reseller-hosting.php) They offer cPanel/WHM and you can order WHMCS license only for 5 GBP/month. Also they will transfer all your websites to their server free of charge. Moreover, you can take advantage of their promo and get the first month of hosting only for 1 GBP, so you have nothing to lose. This is a great chance to try their services, and I thing that you will be satisfied with their services.

Sort of sounds like a marketing pitch - Do you work for them, current/previous client or other? Never tried Webhostingbuzz but I think you would be in good hands there, the owner is also leads up the hosting division at Namecheap among several other brands I believe which has some good reviews on.

Thanks for all of your input. I have decided to sign up with Vidahost, because they offered reasonable cPanel reseller hosting at £19.99 per month. This can be used for most customers and the speeds are fantastic as is the support (so far). The only issue I can see is the limited processes as many of my clients use imap across multiple platforms and these amount to a large number of processes (although not demanding in the slightest). The low cost has also allowed me to also have a VPS with Heart Internet which use Webfusion's VPS's... These seem to be very reliable from what I have read, and cheap through Heart Internet. I will use the VPS (running Plesk) for more demanding clients. I will report back on my findings after a month or so... Already though Heart Internet seem to be a little slack on support once you've purchased their products... But I've had far worse before!

I was too quick to make assumptions, Sorry My experience with Clook of six and a half years was somewhat unremarkable, in that, the service was always there. I can't remember having a downtime. Clook were a reliable, if not a lack-lustre host. Their VPS offering however, is over-priced for the majority, I'd wager. EZPZ and InnoHosts offer their resellers more than Clook in the way of meaningful value-added bits and pieces. Mike

Interesting, Mike. I find reliability a huge plus in and of itself, especially considering the plethora of data we see logged here daily to speak otherwise of whichever host. It's what's kept me at fluidhosting for 9 years, for instance, but I do hear your further points, and as needs and tends evolve one must look for the best value-add on a continual basis. Good points!

Thanks Trip. Nine years with the same host takes some beating, I imagine ! It would be impolite and irrelevant to ask why the move away from FluidHosting, so I wont ask Mike.

We've found EUK to be a good reliable host, as well as UnitedHosting and Clook.

Posted by Trip, 03-07-2013, 03:46 PM
Quite the contrary, I'm still with them! I guess I failed to convey that (again).
