Any good providers under $7?
Posted by JasMate, 06-28-2012, 03:10 AM |
I don't use many resources bandwidth/space but i do have a lot of domains/accounts. Is there any providers out there that have a good reputation for under $7 per month? I have looked in the advertising section but i'm not sure which ones have the good rep.

I can only think of JoneSolutions' smallest plan which prices $4/mth. You might want to check them out.

I was with them a couple of years ago and had some issues. So no i'm not interested in Jonesolutions.

I presume you are looking for US based reseller hosting? Also do you have the current usage of your reseller hosting (number of domains / disk space & bandwidth used)?
Cheers

You have mentioned your Budget but you haven't update your requirements.
Like
How much disk space and bandwidth you are looking for?
Server Location?
How many accounts you are willing to host?

To be honest, you should be looking to pay at least $10 for a Reseller hosting account...

Webspace/bandwidth is cheap to provide. Having a lot of domains to host will use up other server resources which are more costly to provide. If you're looking for reliability you need to up your budget. If you want good support, you're going to have raise your budget even more.

Are you looking for reseller hosting, or are these domains simply yours? There are some hosting solutions that offer unlimited addon domains for your convenience - another thing to think about.

Exactly how many? I think the answer to that question, should answer your question on whether or not you will be able to find a stable service for under $7 per month.

Its always better to search for good quality reseller hosting as you mentioned you are having "a lot of domains/accounts" than why you are looking for such cheap reseller hosting because cheap reseller hosting only solve your money issue but in long term it will downgrade your reputation and it could be possible that you will loss your genuine clients because of poor support as well as server performance ....so be careful while looking for new reseller web hosting.....

Is a Canadian host ok for you? With Croc Web you can get the lowest plan for $6.95/monthly if you pay triannually but they also have a 50% off discount available for new clients. Sign up for a month and if you like the service you can change to yearly billing (or longer) and still get the discount. With the discount, my first reseller account with them is costing about $5/month.
I've found Croc Web's support and reliability to be excellent!

The only issue I am seeing from you is that you disappeared without paying the invoice.
You didn't even submit even a single ticket.
Yes, I know who you are based on your domain record here in WHT.

MellowHost Could be an option as well, they often offer promos that put them within your range.
The number of domains shouldn't matter much, the traffic and resources used by each site could be a problem if you have a high number of active domains. How many hits do you average across the board and what is your average bandwidth usage?

CrocWeb offers a shared hosting plan for $5.95/month with 10GB of disk space and allows you to host up to unlimited (within your resource limits) domains on that account.

What kind of "resources" are more costly to provide for domains?
@JasMate - Is there any reason you're looking for a reseller account over a normal account that has access to lots of parked/addon domains? <>

I second this, why do you need a reseller hosting account? If you truly are reselling web hosting, then $7/month is hardly enough for a business budget.
If you are just hosting a lot of domains, then just get a normal shared account that offers unlimited domains, there are plenty out there.

The more domains you host the potentially higher your support requirements and the more traffic your overall reseller account experiences. I.e. more web server connections, more MySQL usage.
Such resources (both staff and hardware) are mostly than just webspace/bandwidth.

Thanks for clarifying, but I still think that in the end it translates to bandwidth.
In all honesty it makes little difference to a host server how many domains are on it as everything translates to traffic in the end and should be balanced appropriately. Mysql usage is also just another product of traffic (in most cases). Point and case, if I have one website that gets a million hits a day verses 10 websites that combine to get a million hits a day i'm likely in very similar situations. more domains <> more requirements necessarily. I would even go so far as to argue that more domains makes things more manageable as restrictions could be set up at a domain level with a minimal cost in effort.

I understand what you mean, but my opinion differs slightly. Rather than it translating into more traffic, I'd say traffic translates into everything else. More traffic means more apache connections which results in more ram usage, more cpu usage.
More MySQL instances results in all of the above and also a io usage as well.
The more accounts you have, the higher the likelihood you'll need more support.
Any decent host will also perform backups and will typically compress them. More usage there as well with the more domains you have.
The bottom line of all of the above is higher prices.
That's a fair point. But you're only taking into account visitors to a website. You're not taking into consideration everything else (i.e. backups being processed).
Absolutely, you can have 1 website using more than 100 websites combined. But looking at real world scenarios and the average user - if someone is hosting 1 website that is the equivalent to 100, that host is not going to let that user stay in a shared environment for long.
Likewise, it's why the number of domains actually does matter, as a host may not 1 reseller hosting 1,000 or so accounts.
I would be inclined to say that it makes a huge difference because of the reasons I mentioned above, but also, the more domains you host, the higher the chance of bad neighbours which is inevitable in the industry.
There is a direct correlation between cost and the number of accounts you're hosting.

There are a lot of provider under $7, but you won't get reliable hosting performance. I think you must be upgrade your budget if you need stable hosting.

IMO in the end it translates to support cost.
More traffic means high server resource usage which could cause server overload sometimes.
A server admin has to check what causes server overload, suspend account causing issue, resolve issue with customer ...

I think you should go for photonhosting.com
$3.5 USD per month.

For under $7, I'm not sure if you get a good billing software with the plan or not. By the way there will be so many providers who can offer below $7 / month. Good luck

Hi, I am jumping in here to submit two names: One K-disk.net offers really low cost resellers, I first heard of them here, and things were going smoothly until I switched from the auto-pay from my debit card to Paypal via 2checkout.com.
Now because they do not seem to really "jump on" support tickets, the wait till after the weekend I guess I am looking again. I am now on hostwebspaces.com I found them by googling low cost master reseller hosting, and they had one for $12.98 that had maybe 50GB storage and maybe 500GB bandwidth, but I got worried about where they may be, and how is their support? So I found an option for $6.98 for:
Product Selection: WHM Reseller - Beginner Reseller
[The logo on the website says: Insight Quality Hosting & Design]
I figure for $6.98 it might be worth a try.

Wow! I do not know why this happened but in addition to the $6.98 that was being charged, Paypal tried to tack on more than $300 to settle my account!!! Be careful, with this one!!!

You probably need to bump your budget up a few more dollars to $10/mo. Remember, you get what you pay for. Ultimately you're the one who is going to suffer if your customers are on a cheap, unreliable service.
