It should, but I think you need to install a small patch for it to work: x86:http://www.iis.net/downloads/default...=34

Yes it's fine! I have a server farm of 10 servers that I just migrated from 2003 to 2008 web server and in our back end we have an active active cluster of SQL 2005 servers.. All good an nice.. Plus when you upgrade to 2008 or run it you can still have backwards compatibility to iis 6 so if your scripts where created to work for that and not for the changes in iis 7.0 then I would recommend doing that and then updating your scripts and removing all the services you don't need so your foot print is as small as possible. Good luck

We've stayed away from the Web version of Windows OS for a myriad number of reasons - I'd stongly suggest just upgrading to STANDARD and don't look back. __________________ Jamie PriceHostMySite.com Dedicated Sales Rep | phone: 877-385-4678 FULLY Managed webhosting! email: jamie@hostmysite.com

JakFetch: For some the sheer cost difference with unauthenticated standard and web edition is the deciding factor. However I will agree with you. If you can afford to run standard do it. __________________ Jonathan VanSchaack Managing DirectorRemly Communications - Total Web Solutions Web Hosting, Dedicated Servers, Boston Colocation, Reseller Hosting, VDS/VPS, Web Design, and Full Server Management

Understood - I'm trying to remember why we ditched that version; I think it had to do with poor scalability (RAM limits) and some other flakiness with that version that was resolved in Standard. Of course, for the very same reason we don't run the Small Business Server, and a lot of people swear by that as well. __________________ Jamie PriceHostMySite.com Dedicated Sales Rep | phone: 877-385-4678 FULLY Managed webhosting! email: jamie@hostmysite.com

Small Business server 03 Has had its share of issues, however we have been testing SBS 08 for a little while now and all the added features and less limits on ram this time make it a possible new choice. But most users on here are probably needing unauthenticated versions since they are using them for hosting services or tasks. Web edition is fine for anyone needing a windows server for hosting and does not need any more than 2GB of ram. If you need scalability you cannot use this. Plus SBS and Web edition can sometimes bring odd management issues up that normal server admins may not have seen before on the standard or enterprise environments. Also not to Hi-jack this thread, Web Edition 2008 does Indeed support MSSQL 2005 and 2008, however you may run into issues if you plan on growing. If you need it for hosting go right to Datacenter its worth the added investment. __________________ Jonathan VanSchaack Managing DirectorRemly Communications - Total Web Solutions Web Hosting, Dedicated Servers, Boston Colocation, Reseller Hosting, VDS/VPS, Web Design, and Full Server Management
