Switch from Wiredtree VPS to new Reseller Hosting
Posted by tlowing, 05-07-2014, 02:19 PM |
I've been with WiredTree for the last 4 years and I'm looking to switch to a Reseller account to save some money (kids, new job, blah, blah).
I used Dathorn for many years before WiredTree and really liked their service. I have maybe a half dozen low bandwidth sites to transfer and one domain is set up as a custom nameserver.
I'm looking for a painless transition/migration. Any suggestions? Is it possible to do a seamless migration?
Thanks,
Trevor

Hey Trevor!
A seamless migration should easily be possible. If your VPS utilizes cPanel this process is trivial for any cPanel provider to complete and we'd love to welcome you back!

Andrew, check this out. Here's a WHT thread from 2006 where I mention having been a customer for 3 years but switching because of PHP5 support. So three years before 2006 and 2006-2010. I'll sign up when I get a moment to start the transfer.

It is possible for a seamless migration. You will just need to keep data "live" on both providers for a few days after you change your nameservers' IP addresses. Try to avoid updating your websites though.

That's quite a run! Thanks for your order and welcome back!
