Question On Reseller Hosting Chocies

Posted by Reginald, 05-07-2014, 11:42 PM
Hi guys, First post! *p/s Glad to be in this new community. I am planning to start a reseller hosting for less than 10 small websites (mostly clients one). Currently, I am down to several options which are: Stable Host CrocWeb Veeratech To be honest, I think I read too much (especially in this forum). All I see are like 95% positive reviews to these. While I know I probably won't go wrong with any of these, how are their services lately? Something about me: 1. This would be my first reseller plan 2. I have above average knowledge in hosting (not reseller) 3. If possible, to have a billing platform in the reseller hosting itself to reduce cost (I read only CrocWeb has this included) My question is ... what do you think of the above considering a dude with moderate knowledge like me? I don't see my future clients using anything more than 1 GB per month but just want to be sure. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Sorry for the weird question too!

Whilst I have not tried them, I have heard some bad reviews on Croc, however nothing major. I would also stay away from any unlimited plans, always asking for trouble. 2) That will help you a lot, if you don't need too much support life is easier for you. 3) The other option is to go buy it direct E.G whmcs.com or clientexec.com and pay for that yourself if you went with any of the others

When choosing a provider, you have to consider your target clients/audience as well. Each provider has servers in different locations, so if majority of your clients/audience are going to be coming from a particular part of the world (i.e. US or UK) then you may want to choose a provider which offers services geographically closer to them for better networking. Most of the better reseller providers will be glad to hand hold you if you are just starting out, so you needn't be worried on this. You may want to take note that when a package includes a billing panel, the cost of that package would have factored in the pricing for a billing panel license. You may benefit from this in that, the provider would be purchasing these licenses in bulk and can obtain a better pricing. That being said, a lot of hosting providers include billing panel licenses with their packages and not just CrocWeb.

Hi! Thanks for sharing. Personally, good point on the location part. However, I am absolutely fine with both. Still thinking much of the billing panel licenses as I can't seem to find StableHost having that addon (can't see on their homepage features). Thanks for sharing both the payment gateway thingy! Had looked into it and as said above, wondering if can get a 'bulk' discount from StableHost. I feel StableHost is the better choice among all. Another question. I noticed StableHost say 10 clients and unlimited addon domains. This means that 1 client could have several domains at once? Just want to make sure. Haha!

This is correct. For your reseller account, you are allowed to create 10 shared hosting accounts. Each of these accounts can have an unlimited amount of addon domains, however the resources will be limited to that one account.

I believe Veerotech does include WHMcs/ClientExec with reseller packages. With unlimited addon domains each cPanel account can host as many domains as desired, just keep in mind that CloudLinux will limit the resources available to each cPanel account as a whole (multiple dynamic sites could create issues). edit: Should have refreshed the page: @BHH - Josh is quick on the draw

I would recommend you to look for companies providing you with Reseller Turnkey solutions and free end user support.

If you have a little knowledge when support is a very important thing. I recommend you add Surpasshosting to your list, too. Because their services are managed and they can help you for most things. For example; if your user scripts don't work when they can be research the reason and can be fix it(like by creating a custom php.ini or modifying config files of scripts etc.). Or they monitor your hosting account and clean up malicious files or codes from your scripts if they detect and notify you report. Uptime of their servers are good, too. Good luck.
