In Need of a Reliable UK Reseller. Any recommendations?

Posted by _Matt_, 05-05-2014, 04:53 PM
I have been with EZPZ for about 2 years now and although they've been great at times I am fed up with their every now and then problems and slow load times. I've raised tickets in the past and things got better but it keeps happening. I'm looking for a reliable reseller with UK servers, I will need at least 5GB of space, 10GB of bandwidth, cPanel/WHM, private nameservers and the possibility to easily upgrade to a higher plan if the need is there. I am happy to pay the right price as long as I am not overpaying or being ripped off. I am not looking to start a hosting company so I do not need any extra features.

I know SimplexWebs could do this for you but they currently are giving 10 times the asking space which you want.

What sites are you hosting and how valuable is there uptime? you say you are not looking to start a hosting company so maybe a small managed VPS might be better. There is http://www.clook.net/ but they are not the cheapest

Matt can I ask would you be after CloudLinux and what would your budget be?

Posted by Criot, 05-05-2014, 06:52 PM
Someone already said above, SimplexWebs. They are a very good UK provider, top quality. You could try contacting them to see if they'll set you up with a custom Reseller Package, definitely worth a shot.

Just wondering what was your budget for this and if price isn't a concern, have you considered a managed VPS from one of the better known providers here? Usually, many people prefer to go with a reseller hosting provider because of all the extra features (i.e. "free" billing systems, website-builders) that come with the service which prices extra on a VPS.

Reliability should not be a problem if server is not oversold and server is hosted in reliable data center. Whoever in your short list, make sure you search their name in outage forum to see how frequently problem occurs.

Why don't you consider upgrading from a reseller account and getting a VPS? That way you have your own dedicated resources.

You could have a look at innohosting; they're known for being super reliable; cant go wrong with them. Unitedhosting is another one to look at as well. Hope that helps !

I would recommend Site5 to you, they do have UK based servers and an excellent customer support staff.

How many sites ? Any other services you'd want (beyond the reseller account) like domain registration ? Backup services ? VPNs ?

Posted by _Matt_, 05-09-2014, 03:33 AM
In fact it doesn't have to be cPanel based as long as it is Linux based. I'm currently hosting two WordPress sites and they're just a few pages with not too many visitors. I'd like to spend no more than £20 per month. How about NameCheap? Are they any good in terms of their reseller hosting? Thanks.

Matt, if you are having two websites then you can consider a basic Reseller Hosting plan and later on when you need more resources plan can be upgraded. It would be good if look for companies which provide complete package with Reseller Hosting.

I feel your pain, I selected EZPZ too and been with them for 2 years, but the whole 99.9% uptime guarantee is a lie. I'm really tired of all there problems. My sites have been down for 4 days this time, and thats all of them, they wont give me a timeframe on when it will be fixed and have been pretty useless in keeping me informed, I been chasing them for days. Since I joined them there has been a DDos attack, one of the site was constantly hacked until Jamie got involved and finally fixed it. Sites go down every few months, for hours at a time or even a whole day. But this time 4 days, they have cost us a fortune in our businesses. My advice would be not to use them, there support has been good on small things, but you will find your self contacting support way too often for one problem after another. I am just trying to decide where to move to, at the moment Inno hosting is leading but there more pricey, but any recommendations would really be appreciated. For now I need to get these sites back up and running, when EZPZ finally decide to help and treat it as priority.

Was this downtime isolated to your website or was it server wide? The Live stats on their website shows 100% uptime

Posted by dipsx129, 05-09-2014, 09:32 AM
Server wide, I have 4 very important websites up, but they take over a minute to load the homepage, and moving to another page on the website takes another 1 minute. First 36 hours the sites were completely down.

This has been totally my experience as well. I've had slow loading issues ever since I can remember with basic WordPress websites. They would either load incredibly slowly or not be accessible at all and even during "normal" operation they would be slow.

Posted by HostWithLove_Cody, 05-09-2014, 10:04 AM
Sounds like an IO/s issue to me. Are you on one of their older servers which are still using CloudLinux 5.x?

Posted by dipsx129, 05-09-2014, 10:10 AM
I feel for you, I am so tired of the dissapointment being with them. Their answers on support have got worse too. They told the sites would be back to normal "very soon" 4 days ago. I have had to push them for timeframes which they have not answered, yesterday they told me it would be fixed before today but its still rubbish performance. Inno hosting phone number in the UK and US does not seem to be working to cant speak to anyone there.

Posted by _Matt_, 05-09-2014, 10:18 AM
Yes, that's correct. CLOUDLINUX 5.10 x86_64 standard – srv9 And in fact I've been with them for over 3 years. My invoices date back to 2010, you'd think that by now they would have fixed their problems. I've only ever had a few small websites running and these issues didn't bother me much up until now when one or two of the websites I have I'd like for them to be accessible and not either extremely slow or not available.

Have you asked to be moved to a different server? EZPZhosting has a good number of different servers in the UK and i'm sure it would not take them long to move your account over to another server.

Posted by dipsx129, 05-09-2014, 10:45 AM
There first reply to that was, sorry we cannot have this process done any quicker, I have asked them to move to another server again with a the request to be passed to Dan, as I am seeing some names I don't know on support from previous problems, and who are not very helpful at all.

Posted by StarWebHosting, 05-09-2014, 10:49 AM
Do you have local backups? If so you could move these to another provider to get the sites up and running quickly.

Posted by HostXNow_Chris, 05-09-2014, 05:03 PM
Sure would be easier if @_Matt_ had backup. One on current provider could be corrupt due to the MySQL issues etc.

Posted by SkyNetHosting, 05-09-2014, 11:50 PM
It could be CL slowing down the web sites as the server is running out of resources in order to prevent it from crashing.

I love InnoHosting. I haven't used their UK servers, but their US servers were incredible. They were the first reseller I used to build my business and I cannot say enough good things about them. I'm glad you also noticed this. I'd like to hear an official response on this.

Posted by CyberHostPro, 05-12-2014, 04:59 AM
Your requirements are quite easy to achieve. I doubt anyone would "Rip you off" but you do get what you pay for! A host thats more expensive would likely get less orders than the cheap host do and likely have much less accounts resulting in better uptime and none overloaded servers.

Posted by HostXNow_Chris, 05-12-2014, 05:22 AM
Definitely = better management etc.

Posted by Ninjapanther Hosting, 05-12-2014, 07:28 PM
I would think it would be hard to make money from simplex web resellers accounts as you are limited to only 10 accounts per plan and at £46 it would be hard to sell that if you just starting up.

Posted by S-Jack, 05-12-2014, 08:03 PM
Isn't that basically £4.60 for 10 gb though
