Their website is down and services I have with them are also down. Does anybody have any information?

Not loading here either, seems to be an issue with their name servers (the name servers do not respond). I hope they recover quickly.

From the whois, it appears they were using reliablesite. I enquired with them and I got following reply: It doesn't look good. If they have not ensured their own site being up, then why would they have cared for customer data? I am even more surprised to see there is no other client of netuplink reporting issues. They were heavily promoting their service till July on WHT it seems.

ReliableSite.Net LLC should be a bit cooperative. They should help customers of netuplink and provide their data if they have. May be something wrong happened with owner of netuplink and everything sank. ReliableSite.Net LLC had their servers and still might be having their old data! some help will be appreciated. Unfortunately this isn't possible as we cannot determine what data belongs to who and would risk potentially giving away private data to someone it doesn't belong to. In addition, we don't have OS level access to customer's machines.

is it possible to boot the servers [i don't think they will have more than a few] for 1-2 hours and let the customers take their data, without your intervention? We are really into catastrophe, and this could really help. appreciated in advance.

So you want them to "temporarily leave the door open" for ANYONE to go into the server???

Posted by qtriangle, 08-23-2016, 12:51 PM
Booting the machine does not mean leaving it for everyone. Am I missing something, or it is you who missed the point?

Posted by HumaneHostingOwner, 08-23-2016, 12:54 PM
As RNST John said they DON"T KNOW who their customers are. So they can't "boot and leave for x hours/days" or else they could face legal consequences.

Legal consequence of allowing a server to run a few hours after expiry date? Really? If that has legal consequence, then every hosting company must have faced it by now, in case they shut the server after few minutes of service expiry. After all I am not asking for doing something that may result in data breach. And: it is a favor I am asking, just coz it is a catastrophic situation. I am not trying to apply rule books here, but also not asking something that breaks laws.

Actually it IS A DATA BREACH by powering on the systems as ANYONE would be able to receive your/other data without you even knowing it. Move on and restore any offsite backups you have. Didn't take them? Not ANYONE problem but your own/company problems.

How can someone access others' data if they don't have logins for those VPS or customer accounts?

Posted by HumaneHostingOwner, 08-23-2016, 01:16 PM
Hacking the underlying OS or even the customers' accounts themselves. It like reopening a Foreclosed apartment for others to get their stuffs. Anyone could just "walk into the door" of the server and grab others' data. Much like if a foreclosed apartment complex was left open someone could just knock down the doors and rob the stuffs within each "unit".

My sincere request: Please do not post irrelevant scenarios here. Hacking can happen anytime anywhere. Just like death can happen to anybody anytime. I m not asking to open anything. Try to understand, I am asking for my data, that too requesting them for cooperation. Kindly do not dilute the severeness of the problem by posting examples like you did.

Well look you're not going to get it. RNST already said so... So just move on and cut the losses. This is why people invest in OFFSITE data backup services from separate networks to insure their business. Much like how you get Renter's insurance for your unit in case your landlord canned you.

Posted by qtriangle, 08-23-2016, 01:28 PM
What if Renter's insurance company is bankrupted the same time your landlord canned you? You can be helpless at times despite caution. It happened in my case, and some help will be really helpful if someone in capacity of extending help does so.

I am not going to say this doesn't happens and I glad you DID bother did try to have offsite backups. But it one of those things that you will just have to say "Life sucks" moments. Depending on your budgets/business model you may want to evaluate the possibility of throwing ANOTHER backup provider in the mix.
