Are GoDaddy's Linux VPS Offerings Any Good?
Posted by Big Dan, 06-05-2016, 12:56 AM |
Hi Folks,
I Googled and cannot find many reviews of GoDaddy VPSes that aren't chock full of affiliate links which tends makes me not trust the review a whole lot. There doesn't seem to be many reviews here either. Does anyone have any experience positive or negative with GoDaddy's WHM/cPanel VPS offerings? I had briefly had a VPS with GoDaddy years back before they started using cPanel and wasn't impressed at all. However, I recently moved quite a few sites to a shared hosting account at GD on behalf of a client and am blown away by the difference compared to their old shared hosting plans. Everythign pretty much just works and the sites fly.
The same client is looking to move off his current VPS host for his larger sites. He's leaning towards GoDaddy. I recommended Liquid Web who I'm currently using and am very happy with. However there's a $90 price difference between the two. If GoDaddy has good preformance and uptime we'll go with that.
Thanks in advance,
Dan

I don't think you will find to many good reviews about godaddy vps. You could also look at host dime for vps system.
By far liquid web and host dime are on another level with support, service and hardware.
I have never had a godaddy hosting plan. My only experience has been with moving customers all their set un to a new hosting account.
Most have been glad they are done with godaddy.

Thanks Centex. That's been my experience in the past too re: moving clients off GoDaddy but I haven't moved any one off GD in quite a while. Plus I'm really impressed with their shared hosting which used to boarder on useless but now runs very well. Maybe they've cleaned up their act with the VPSes too.
Not really. He hasn't used GoDaddy for hosting until recently. My experience a long ago with their VPS machines wasn't good at all. I don't want to waste the guy's money moving him to GoDaddy only having to wind up moving to yet another host in a few weeks/month.

I don't know that GoDaddy is particularly popular with Virtual Private Servers - I haven't seen too many reviews of their service either way. Is there a particular reason you want to use them? I'd recommend maybe taking a look at the VPS Hosting Offers forum down below - you'll find plenty of potential alternatives there

If your client(s) trust you, explain to them the difference of that $90 dollars...which I'm guessing is by the year...which is then only $7.50 a month difference.
For an extra $7.50 a month;
- they will have a greater guarantee to not have issues
- they will not have to worry about loading issues
- they will get a good nights sleep
- they know that if it works for you and you're happy about it, it will work for them too

@OP I'm glad you've had some positive experiences with GoDaddy. I can't say that I share your experiences (shared or VPS). I just got done helping a friend move a significant number of his (now) clients over from Godaddy (not his doing, he's taken over). Having seen the history of some of these clients I can say that I would never recommend Godaddy to anyone. But again that's just my opinion, hopefully you'll have better luck.

Thanks guys. I apologize for the delay in updating this but we wound up going with Liquid Web a month or so back and couldn't be happier.
