OVH - does it take more than 24 hours to get service?

OVH - does it take more than 24 hours to get service? I signed up and paid for VPS service from OVH, and received an email: That was yesterday, 24 hours and counting. Is this the norm? I guess I can call them and ask, but for something as simple as setting up an account, I don't see it as productive to go through a phone menu system and getting placed on hold. I also a not keen on registering an account on their forum, that's all I need, another forum accounts somewhere. So, if this kind of delay is normal for most hosting companies, let me know, and I'll twiddle my thumbs until Monday Last edited by Subsim; 08-27-2016 at 04:27 AM. Reason: typo, the title should read "more"

If this is your first order with OVH, then maybe yes. OVH activates service within minutes for me, but then I have had an account with them for many years. Guess you could try phoning them if you want access to your server quicker.

If this is your first order, you'll have to verify your identity by sending in scanned ID etc, you should've received an email requesting those... that phase can take several days, and it might help to push it through a bit, by calling and asking about it. You should have received an email requesting those docs. Once through, subsequent orders take minutes, maybe hour(s). Don't count on advertised 120sec tho'.

That's almost like a standard protocol used by many hosts. When you are new, they do fraud check, may require your documents, procure hardware and applications you requested and set it up. This can take anywhere from 12-48 hours depending upon hosts' credibility and staff availability.

Ugh, I'm not liking this. I am currently in Stockholm working on our new game, so my current IP does not match my billing address. I won't be back in Texas for another few months....

New orders/clients are usually put on hold for fraud checks at OVH, with how cheap their prices are there's no doubt it's the smart thing to do for their business. Just call their Canadian support number during daytime hours, give them your e-mail and explain the situation. Phone support with them is much more helpful/faster than waiting a day for a ticket reply. Typically they would ask for photo ID though, by your replies they haven't, so just provide that to prove your address in Texas. (Information comes from me using them for many years)
