Is this processor is good to run KMV with solusvm? 2x Intel® Xeon® Processor E5504 (4Core, 2.00 GHz, 4.80 GT/s Intel® QPI)

As this processor does not have hyperthreading, you will be greatly limited on performance if you try to put to many vpses on this cpu.

Did you mean KVM? It still good to run KVM if you do not oversell

E5504 is not suitable for KVM . E5504 is a fully outdated CPU. But E5520 good for virtualization. Its consists with 8 MB SmartCache 5.86 GT/s QPI Bus speed. Its comes with hyperthreading too You can compare both of CPU s with below mention links. http://ark.intel.com/products/40711/...-GTs-Intel-QPI http://ark.intel.com/products/40200/...-GTs-Intel-QPI I can not see any huge price difference in between E5504 and E5520

I wouldn't use the E5504 for KVM, as other members have also commented. Did you propose this processor based on price?

Your friend is giving it to you free? If not, better pay for something decent.

Launch Date: Q1'09 , https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php...04+%40+2.00GHz Simple E3 or E3v2 will beat this server by performance. I do not recommend it, it is better to look for something with more power.
