Hi, I am new to hosting and nameserver and so on... I have just gotten a dedicated server this month. CentOS with DirectAdmin (thanks to WHT for recommending this). My problem is, I cant seem to "make" a nameserver and get it to work? I have attached some .jpg. screenprints which I hope will help resolve my problem. I hope you will look at the pictures and tell me what I am doing wrong. I have followed the guide in DirectAdmin forum for creating a nameserver, but I still got problem. (I have not been able to post in there forum, cause I have not gotten a activate mail yet, so while I wait for that, I hope you will help me.) I have waited a couple of days for the dns nameserver to update, but it is still not working. Thanks in forward and best regards. Attached Thumbnails

Wait... are you using GoDaddy to manage your DNS entries? The last image looks like that, but my eyes are a bit fuzzy (still early!) so I'm not 100% sure on what you're doing there...

Hi, the reason is.. first I tried as I normally do when I host in a different provider then the place where my domains are. I first tried to change the nameserver in Godaddy, but as you can see at the pictures number 1 and 4 it gave these errors: picture 1= nameserver not registered picture 2= invalid TLD Normally this should work, but I dont know why this time it didnt work. So i thought maybe I should use the advance dns manage in GoDaddy, as thought as done :-) Thats why I tried to manage the DNS in GoDaddy cause when I tried to only change the nameserver it didnt work. So what is my problem? how do I solve it, have I typed something wrong in the DirectAdmin settings ???

Ah, ok, I understand what you were trying to do. You need to first of all, disable DNS management with GoDaddy (if it's still enabled) then do the following to register the DNS servers with GoDaddy before you can use them: - Click on your domain name. - Click on Host Summary (Green box to your left) - Enter in ns1 in the first field. - Enter in the IP address in the Host IP 1 field. - Click OK. Repeat a second time to add ns2, then GoDaddy should allow you to use your own DNS servers.

Ooooh THANK YOU SO MUCH. You dont know how long I tried to fix this. OMG thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Im almost crying right now of joy. lol SO easy, why have they not made it more in front of you, instead of hiding it. I had looked in the help in GoDaddy, but couldnt find anything. THANK YOU. Yup, GoDaddy is like that. Very confusing interface.
