Cpanel Proxy
Posted by joker2040, 01-13-2008, 10:00 PM |
Ok I need a good proxy for Cpanel. The thing is some of my clients have requested that they be able to access Cpanel through port 80 instead of 2082 because of firewall issues at their place of work. Any ideas?

Yeah I already did that and found that cpanel proxy thing but I didn't know if anyone else used it or had any feedback on it.

it works.
auto-installer is handy, too.

In the process of installing it and ran into a problem...
I type the command pico /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf
Then add:
ServerName cpanel.*
ServerAlias cpanel.* whm.* webmail.*
DocumentRoot /usr/local/share/cpanelproxy
I save the document per the instructions and attempt to restart Apache.
When I put in the command to restart I get:
/etc/init.d/httpd restart: configuration broken, ignoring restart
/etc/init.d/httpd restart: (run 'apachet1 configtest' for details)

Should I run it after I make the changes or run it now when everything is normal? When I make the changes then try the restart it kills apache all together so all of the sites are down until I change it back and restart.

If I run it right now I get the message...
Warning: DocumentRoot [/home/a username/public_html/net] does not exist
Syntax OK

it does work but I seem to recall having to patch it with some code posted over at the cpanel forums to get it working in cpanel 11
although Horde sometimes has problems with it.

Hi,
You might want to check the following site which offer a cpanel proxy autoinstaller scripts.
The cpanel proxy seems to be compatible with Cpanel 11 Webmail and Cpanel.
You can actually run this script in your hosting and use it to install cpanel proxy to all your client hosting account.

Just a head's up that we are beginning to publicly test built-in proxying support. This will allow users to access cPanel, WHM and webmail via port 80 by simply visiting a URL such as cpanel.theirDomain.com.
At this time, this functionality is still in testing hence it is only in the EDGE build at the moment. The EDGE build is not recommended for production web servers.
Once we have worked out the bugs, this added functionality will be propagated to production worthy builds of cPanel/WHM and thus eliminate the need for third party applications such as "Cpanel Proxy" to access cPanel/WHM and webmail via port 80.

Please refer to the following taken from http://www.cpanel-proxy.net/_faq
5. How long can i download the script after payment made ?
- You will received the "registration code" in your email that you use for your paypal account immediately after you made the payment. Login to your members area at http://www.cpanel-proxy.net/index.php?do=account and enter the "registration code" , you may then can immediately download the scripts.
You are probably using fraud paypal account that do not have access to the actual paypal email address on your email hosting account.
Please contact sales@cpanel-proxy.net for further assistant.

Sounds great. It would be nice if this feature is able to be enabled/disabled on a per-account basis instead of either on/off for every account on the entire server.
Thanks.
