There are many tutorial websites like w3schools.com and tizag.com. They are good for learning php and web development stuffs.

Personally I find the best way to teach myself anything is to first visit the library and read, after the initial understanding stage nothing beats some hands-on to really know what is what, obviously places like this can help on your way to learning and google isn't bad either. PHP is a great server-side language to learn and down the road will open up the world of OOP for you, the skies the limit...
Good Luck!

Get a book on PHP, take programs you have written, and convert them to PHP.

Authors generally write their books in advance of the official release, so that the book can be released at the same time as the new language version. Since the PHP group did their "let's call it 5.3 instead of 6.0 even though there were lots of major changes" and now seem to be planning "let's call it 5.4 instead of 6.0 even though there will be lots of major changes again", all the books title "PHP 6" just got released anyway, because by the time PHP actually got to 6.0, they'd be out of date.

I would highly recommend installing a web server on your PC - something like xampp does the job for most people.
Then have a look through all of the php pages on Tizag, and most importantly have a go!

xammp works out to cost around 120MB on the hard drive, Im sure the ram usage is quite high too.
Uniserver is only 10MB and completely unnoticeable, and I recommended that highly.
I've started learning php after watchuing social network, really like it, tiztag is a good website, i started off with php and mysql for dummies, that book was REALLY made for dummies, so much fluff, and lacks good quality material.

Why do you feel the need to hide an Amazon.com link behind tinyurl? Are you trying to hide an affiliate link or something?
A plain link without suspiscous spurious parameters, for anybody who actually wants to see the book: http://www.amazon.com/Beginning-Apac.../dp/0764579665
