Cent OS update failing.
Posted by dlewis23, 06-24-2008, 11:23 PM |
I'm having a problem with my CentOS 5 box. for some reason the update will not work.
I run yum update, The update starts, then when it gets too downloading the packages I get the following error for every single RPM.
http://mirror.iweb.ca/centos/5/os/i3...5.el5.i386.rpm : [Errno 4] IOError: Trying other mirror.
The RPM's can be downloaded just fine if I copy and past that URL in my browser. I don't understand why the server can't open that URL
Does anyone know of a fix for this? Or is anyone else at iWeb having the same problem.
Thanks

Have you tried to substitute your choice of mirror sites in yum.conf file , Try this
[base]
name=CentOS-$releasever - Base
baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/$releasever/os/$basearch/
#released updates
[update]
name=CentOS-$releasever - Updates
baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/$releasever/updates/$basearch/
#packages used/produced in the build but not released
[addons]
name=CentOS-$releasever - Addons
baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/$releasever/addons/$basearch/
#additional packages that may be useful
[extras]
name=CentOS-$releasever - Extras
baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/$releasever/extras/$basearch/
#packages in testing
#[testing]
#name=CentOS-$releasever - Testing
#baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/$releasever/testing/$basearch/

That worked perfectly. Thank you. I figured that is what I would have to do, I just couldn't find who could tell me how to do it.
