YUM Upgrade Error for Openssh-Clients
Posted by Frontpage1, 09-01-2008, 02:12 PM |
For some reason, on this one Centos 5 server, we are having trouble updating OpensshClients.
Current Version: openssh-clients.i386 0:4.3p2-26.el5
Upgrade Version: openssh-clients.i386 0:4.3p2-26.el5_2.1
The error states that there is an error unpacking the RPM.
I have uninstalled Opensshclients and reinstalled it, yet get the same errors.
Any ideas?

What does 'rpm -q cpio' say? Most probably the cpio binary
is corrupt. To test this, install some other rpm. If cpio
is corrupt, wget cpio for your CentOS release.

I am thinking its not cpio but Openssh-Clients that is corrupt direct from the repository.

I uninstalled cpio and then reinstalled cpio and still have the error.
Can anyone recommend a Centos source for openssh-clients that is known not to be corrupt?

Compile SSH from scratch?

I have done that do and no joy. It seems that one part of the file that is downloaded via Yum is corrupt. I just need an alternate repos to experiment with.

Actually get the source and compile it from scratch, don't use yum if you think it is corrupt.
