2checkout

Does anyone have experience with 2checkout? Do they provide SSL certificate for us? Or where can you get it? Thanks HD

When you use 2checkout all the financial transactions actually take place on their site using their SSL certificate. If you want your own, you can buy one from places like Thawte, Equifax, GeoTrust, etc. for anywhere from $79 and up.

I haven't had any direct experience yet, but will very soon, they answer inqueries very fast, and I've seen alot of companies that use them. They seem like a good choice.

As a customer who's done over $20,000 with 2checkout (as of today yay!! ooh, and $0.00 in charge backs rule that) I can say they are the best I've found short of a "real" merchant's account.

Now do any of you know of any good shopping carts that work with 2checkout? Besides for the ones listed at their site?

One account did not exceed the minimum release level for a check payment ($100 US) and the other account has never exceeded their own set "release level". We've replied to both posts and payments will be issued this week. Kristin

Kristin can you tell us some shopping carts that work with the 2checkout system, besides the ones listed at your site?

I would not recommend 2checkout, their fraud protection is a non-existance. I have had a $700+ refunds and $58 chargebacks!!! furthermore, the payment was made on november 2001 and they issue a refund on april 2002? and I was not even notified of the refund. anyone know a good cc processor?

Posted by nleavens, 04-16-2002, 11:12 AM
vegs, You can't always count on credit card processors to block fraudulent orders - there are too many credit card numbers floating around the Internet, that haven't been cancelled, reported as stolen, or the like. I just finished a post on how I do very well in fraud proofing my accounts. I use 2checkout.com

I have never had issue regarding this from 2checkout. Usually when I personally get an order I trace the IP in there order form to see if that matches up and if it does not then soemtimes I do a whois on there domain to see if I can see anything going on there. If things look a little weird then I try to contact them via voice phone number. If it still seems weird then I contact 2checkout and have them look into it.. I mean This is the only way to really make sure of things. its part of our job

I actually did what you did and verify them, everything is valid. To my opinion, 2checkout does not protect you as a seller. They protect the buyer but not the seller, if all your customer to issue a chargeback 2checkout will gladly give it to them and leave you as a seller to take all the damage on your business. Isnt there a law regading this issue? if your customer purchased a hosting service and after used it for 5 months then he/she decided to issue a chargeback. is there anyway to counter this ?

Vegs, ok, I see where you are coming from now. My thought is, try to discuss the reasons and what not with 2checkout.. and with your "ex" customers.. is there a way you can reconcile the situation with your customer ? that's the best way. But as far as protection from people just plain out taking advantage of your company: i'm not sure myself how I would combat against it.

I did, and still waiting for a reply. These people should go jail for doing that. Its the same as I purchased a computer off the internet and then go to the bank and issue a chargeback after i get the item.
