Cpanel services failing and being restarted, how do I determine cause?

Cpanel services failing and being restarted, how do I determine cause? Cpanel installed on Centos 5.2 on a dedicated server. This morning, I received multiple emails about services being restarted. About 20 minutes apart, with nothing that I coudl see going on with the server, I had multiple services fail and restart. How do I trouble shoot this to see if there is a problem? Quote: At 6:21 The following services failed: httpd lfd httpd cpsrvd lfd and I received emailed messages similar to these (obviously the port and service name were didfferent in each email). cpsrvd failed @ Sat Nov 15 06:21:29 2008. A restart was attempted automagically. Failure Reason: Unable to connect to port 2086 Then, at 6:42 The following services failed: cpsrvd cpsrvd httpd lfd httpd lfd and I received emailed messages similar to these (obviously the port and service name were didfferent in each email). cpsrvd failed @ Sat Nov 15 06:21:29 2008. A restart was attempted automagically. __________________Total Broncos - Denver Broncos Blog and NewsBroncosForums - Broncos message board and live news feed

I hate to ask the obvious, but since it's the first step in troubleshooting these issues... have you checked the error logs, specifically the Apache error logs around the time the services were restarted?Apache Error Log: /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log Post anything you think is relevant here around the time the services were restarted...

has the server been rebooted recently? __________________Steven Ciaburri Competent Linux Server Management from Rack911

Two days ago on the reboot. I've been on this server for less than one week. I had checked the apache error logs. There were some errors (having to do with some problems with the vBSEO sitemap plugin for vBulletin) around the same time as the service failures, but as they occurred both before and after the service failures, as well as multiple times over the last few days, I did not think they were likely to be part of the problem. I believe, fopen and fclose are related to permissions. I had the same issue oneday and gave 777 permissions which fixed the issues.

Since there was a new version of the sitemap generator, I just went ahead and uninstalled, deleted the folder, and then reinstalled. However, I don't think that was what caused my service restarts, so I am still stuggling to figure out how to trouble shoot why those services restarted twice in 20 minutes. __________________Total Broncos - Denver Broncos Blog and NewsBroncosForums - Broncos message board and live news feed
