Companies which provide support to end users

Posted by pcuptime, 09-03-2001, 09:21 PM
Hello Everyone, I'm new to this board. I've been lurking for awhile and decided to come out of the shadows for a questions. I am going to start reselling. I've decided to go with a company which will provide support to my clients; hence I can keep my day job while building the business. So far, I have looked at OLMs RSE plans. They seem a bit pricey based on the number of domains one is allowed--especially at the lower end. I don't see how I can offer flexibility in hosting plans and still be profitable. However, I have had two domains hosted with them for over two years and am very pleased with the service. I'm interested in knowing about any other hosts that offer anonymous support to my clients. I've done a search of the forums but cannot seem to narrow down the keywords enough to provide something useful. Your suggestions are most appreciated.

I believe Site5 ( www.site5.com ) allows you to do this. Can't comment on them at all though...

I'd suggest you think twice about letting someone else support your clients...at least do 50% of it. No one else will provide the kind of service you need to make your clients satisfied and if they do, before long they'd convinve your clients to move directly under them. Beside, I thought we all this this because we enjoyed it as well. So what will be your role in your business?

My role will initially be billing and the growing of the business. Once I have a client base substantial enough to support myself, I can quit my day job and then think about a plan where I support my clients, which will likely cost less. I just don't think it's fair for my clients to have to wait several hours for me to get home from work so that I can answer support requests. My experience with WebAxxs, which offers the RSE reseller plans, has been excellent. My support questions are usually answered within a few minutes. They could do the same for my clients.

I don't know. I checked out their pricing structure, and it has a very ***** flavor to it. Seem a little on the costly side as well. Storage is cheap it is the bandwidth that is expensive. If you go with them keep us posted. I, for one, am interested to see how they are as far as support, especially to your customers. Ryan

Or maybe you could use an out source tech support like hyper-techs.com

Posted by smartmlp, 09-07-2001, 11:16 AM
It is just not worth getting someone esle to do the support.... Site5 does it... but it is costly. hyper-techs.com is just not worth paying for... if you are not going to have high costs. If you plan to have only 20 accounts (Or less) it will be no problem handling it... let say alteast 1 hour a day on the computer. Not Even that!

That is just not true. you CAN'T leave a customer waiting for 20 hours for an answer. Because you don't have the time. If you dont have the time to give support, do something else but hosting. I think that pcuptime know that, or what is the point of this thread?

Posted by smartmlp, 09-07-2001, 07:24 PM
Well, Actually, After I think about it.... I would want a response within 7 hours time....

if you can not be there outsource to a tech support firm or contact a web host you may want to use. Even if some dont offer it publicly they may be able to assist you.

no one answered my question... It says you get 50 help desk inquiries, is that per month?

Posted by Alareach, 09-09-2001, 09:34 PM
I pay per month and I believe all of their services are per month. You may want to email them and ask if they can accomidate your needs. Regards AH
