What is "DNS Shows" For Yahoo!
Hello,
we are trying to enter yahoo's permission based email programme. They send an email us asking:
> IP address: 1.2.3.4.5
> Domain name: ?
> DNS shows: ?
So I coud not understand what is "DNS shows:" . I asked them and they answered

From what they answer, it looks like they are asking what the reverse DNS shows when a reverse lookup is done on the IP address you list there. Usually it should show the domain name or at least some form of it if the reverse DNS is setup correctly for that IP address. When it comes to mail, they really want to see that it is all setup to match, so that they can check from multiple angles to verify the legitimacy of your domain name and the connecting IP address.
On a linux machine, you can run the command:
dig -x 1.2.3.4
and it will return the reverse DNS information, or you can run the more simplistic:
host 1.2.3.4
which should give you a form of the same answer, assuming it is setup correctly.

you should also check out whatsmyip.org/whois/
the second section in the middle will let you do a reverse dns lookup and tell you what you need to know
if you need to make changes from there you may need to contact the host
