SOCKS5 (Shadowsocks) on dedicated server

I was wondering if anyone could assist me with quick question with Shadowsocks SOCKS5. I am looking to create a Shadowsocks server to be used by hundreds (or potentially thousands) of people, but I have no idea what kind of server specifications would be needed to support that many users. Does anyone have a general idea of server requirements for varying numbers of concurrent users connected to the proxy? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. - Dave

E3 dedicated server with 2 x SSD and 16 - 32 GB RAM, 1Gbps port? How many IP addresses is needed for hundred or thousands of people?
