I got this from them on March 31st Attention All Customers, Late this afternoon, we had our gateway and border routers plus dns servers IP's stripped by ARIN. This was not supposed to happen until next week after our IP changes were completed, but they jumped the gun on us. The cause for this is because they were on a class that has been handed back over because of the IP upgrades we have been doing and were no longer going to be used. What does this mean? Currently all of our servers are inaccessible because the IP's for our gateway routers are no longer functional and our DNS servers are no longer resolving domain names. We are working as quickly as possible to resolve this issue in the fastest time possible, however regardless what route we take it is going to take time for these changes to resolve throughout the Internet. Since this occurrence has also affected our Domain and the helpdesk is not available either, we have set up a temporary e-mail address for updates and support. We are attempting to resolve this issue as fast as possible and we apologize for this inconvenience. However this event is out of our control and ARIN will not allow us to have the old IP's back so the only choice we have is to push forward with the remaining IP changes and hope they resolve as fast as possible to avoid a lengthy downtime period. We are anticipating getting these changes completed by tomorrow morning, and then we will have to wait until the routing reconvergence and dns resolution takes place, there is no way to speed that process up because it takes time for the changes to occur. We will be sending out updates as they occur to keep everyone informed, again we apologize for this but as mentioned this was totally unexpected and we are trying to correct it as quickly as possible. Regards, Tech Support Then I sent them an inquiry and got this response on April 2nd at 0254 AM We are still working on and will continue through the night to get the IP's installed and switched over to the new blocks. As soon as this is completed you will be notified. Regards, Tech Support Have not heard anything else yet

well... It is good to know they are still in business. Unfortunatly, with two major outages in as many months I just can't stick around. They are a great group of people though, I wish them the best. Could I ask that you give me the temporary address they sent you so that I may contact them? Thank you for the information, PJ Linke

Posted by N2QKG, 04-02-2003, 11:14 PM
digitalxweb@comcast.net is the temporary e-mail address that I have for them, however I have sent two e-mails to them today and have not gotten a response so far. and i agree, they have been great up to this point, but two outages in two weeks, both relating to this ip change over gets a little old, especially since now it seems that they are not replying or possibly checking the temporary address just hope they come up soon, my customers are getting a little cranky, but at least they understand that I can't do anything about it

Posted by N2QKG, 04-03-2003, 12:38 AM
ok, latest update is that they don't seem to be responding to their temporary e-mail address. i contacted internap also, so we will see what we will see

I actually even got a hold of their fax number and faxed them. I was a little desperate. I didn't get any email with their letter on there until you posted it, my email was tied to one of the sites that was down. If I hear anything I will be sure to post it. Thank you for keeping me updated as well. PJ

i like the service i have recieved from this group. Im more then willing to give them a couple of days to sort things out. They have always been up front and honest with me and even warned thier customers about possible network outages during the ip change. i wouldnt be so quick to look for another provider as i have been around the block and it doesnt get much better then what their offering.

Posted by pjlinke, 04-03-2003, 11:24 PM
No offense! But it's been a lot more than a "couple" of days. A couple hours is normal for downtime on most of the hosts I've been with. It has been 4 full days, and I still have received no word what so ever that they are even still in business. It's a good thing that I only have a couple close friends as clients. How do you explain to 20 - 50 or more clients that... oh sorry, my reseller is having hardware problems, for a week. You loose a lot of business that way. And really, to be honest. If I received 1 email from them, 1 response to a fax, email or phone call that's I've made. Even 1 post on one of these boards I would have been all for sticking around. This is not like them at all, and personally, I am very upset about it. I have always gotten great service from Digital. They have a friendly, responsive, knowledgable staff. But I am trying to start a business, and I can't have things like this happen, especially without communication of any sort. Like I said. I have had great service with these guys, and once they get their hardware troubles fixed, I would certainly recommend them to anyone who asked, I would even consider going back to them. But 2 major outages of over 4 days over the course of 5 months of service is just not acceptable... especially considering the lack of communication. that's just the way I feel. PJ

Posted by iWebbers.com, 04-04-2003, 07:36 AM
I agree. Their service is great and support staff is very knowledgable. I am satisified with them and always recommmend them. This time it has been down for 4 days. I don't have any problem if most of our customers stay with us. But, it is impossible.

Posted by pjlinke, 04-04-2003, 09:36 AM
The question is, Has anyone heard from them at all? The last communication I am aware of was Monday morning. PJ

Posted by iWebbers.com, 04-04-2003, 10:34 AM
Mine was on Wednesday morning (in US time). Here is what they say:

Posted by case, 04-04-2003, 10:55 AM
yeah, i got the samething yesterday. I think its safe to say we all know whats going on. No point in asking a million questions, im sure they want their service back up and im sure us customers will be the first to know

Posted by N2QKG, 04-04-2003, 11:28 PM
for all intensive purposes, i would have to say that they are out of business from the phone conversation that i had with the sales rep an internap. they seem not to even be answering any e-mails or requests for response. i had to take care of my customers as i really don't have that many, since up to the last 6 months i had been primarily focusing on the design side with the hosting only being a value added service, but i managed to pick up a couple of high profile local accounts, and for the most part they have been really understanding, since i was basically making contact with them at least once a day, even if i did not know anything, but to let them know i was on top of the job. so i took the plunge and picked up a dedicated server. if there is any one on here that had accounts and is needing a new home, pm me and i will see what kind of deal we can swing.

Posted by Cirtex, 04-04-2003, 11:31 PM
guess ill never go with those guys

Posted by case, 04-05-2003, 02:05 AM
care to tell us what the sales rep had to say? I was under the impression that businesses had disclosure agreements and that someone in sales wouldnt just blert something like this out. Not to say they wouldnt but im just interested in what was said. I dont wanna jump the gun but i havent been able to get a response from an email or anything ive sent them. Ill give it another 24 hours which i consider being patient. If i hear nothing then i will be calling my bank. Hopefully this isnt true because i had been really enjoying the service up until this point.

I have been with DigitalXWeb for quite some time now, and don't want to just bail ship. Brian has always been extremely helpful and forthcoming with all issues and they have had GREAT service until this week. I'm concerned though - I did a search at GoDaddy to see who is the registrant for the DigitalXWeb.net domain name... and here is the info that was returned back. What concerns me is the first line "new owner (4/1/03) seems that Brian is no longer owner and so, if that's the case, I will be moving on. Can anyone tell me how to go about making sure they don't debit my credit card again? I did email this jammer2020@comcast.net just a few minutes ago, I'll see what his response is and let everyone know. As I've stated, I've been with DigitalXWeb since last summer... I have emails from May 2002 where I communicated with Brian Powell who was the owner at the time (not sure if he still is - noticed on a whois that the registrant name was changed as of April 1, 2003). Anyway - I'm thinking of moving to a new host "PHPWebhosting". The company I work for, which is a non-for-profit Retirement Trust Fund, has their site hosted with PHP. Actually, our Actuary company, does the website maintenance and recordkeeping hosts our site with PHP. And, we do all of our work directly into the database on the website. Not sure how to explain it any further other than the database function is HEAVILY used by our staff for data entry of contributions, a lot of queries are used... and, we haven't had any problems with them. Sooooo..... just wanted to throw them out as an alternative. Hope that helps, and sorry to have to leave DigitalXWeb...

Posted by case, 04-06-2003, 07:52 PM
All I have to say is screw these guys. I dont care whats going on or who bought the damn thing. Us customers deserve the right to be informed and we havent been. I cant even get a response from their email that they provided for this "emergency". Im not interested in waiting around or what thier responce is after this post. Im disputing my charges, reporting this url to rip off report, and taking business elsewere. To think, i really liked my service and would have waited through the downtime had someone responded to one of my emails or pm's.

Posted by userfriendly, 04-06-2003, 08:30 PM
Sounds to me like someone hasn't been able to pay their bills and got themselves disconnected...

Posted by sdollen, 04-06-2003, 11:49 PM
Well, I hate to say it - but I pulled the trigger and signed up with PHPWebhosting. It took all of 2 minutes, and my site is already up...I'm getting emails again through my domain name. I can even visit my website directly through my domain name...which I thought would be impossible for the next couple of days - until GoDaddy resolved the new DNS info. I guess PHP must be doing something on their end to make it work like that so quickly, but I'm not enough of a guru to know. Soooo..... my last question. How can I make sure DigitalXWeb doesn't continue to charge my credit card? Any advice, help is appreciated. I wish DigitalXWeb the best.... but, I couldn't sit around much longer without even getting an email from them.

I actually received a Paypal refund from Digital on Sunday. I tried contacting Brian at the address on paypal and no response. I've already moved to a company called InsiderHosting if anyone is interested. Talk to Steve, he was very helpfull in getting me back up and running. They also have good costs and excellent packages. All I really want from Digital is my mailing lists back. PJ Linke Gside Web Solutions.

Posted by iWebbers.com, 04-07-2003, 10:26 AM
Have they say anything? Also, how much they give you back?

Posted by pjlinke, 04-07-2003, 10:31 AM
The refund was in the amount of my last payment. Which is good considering I've gotten no service since my last payment. As far as information. Not a damn thing. I just don't understand how a company in good concience can do this to people. I understand mistakes and problems and even going out of business but to leave us here hanging, that's just inexcusable. To all, First I want to say I am extremely sorry for the events that have unfolded in the past week. I also want to apologize to everyone that was a client and for the lack of communication that has occured. As mentioned above the original problem was due to IP's being changed without my knowledge nor authorization (at least that was what I was led to believe) as of last Wed April 2nd I am no longer CEO/co-owner of DigitalXWeb, LLC. I can not comment on the reasons for this as I have been advised by legal counsel not to, due to pending legal actions, so I will just leave it at that. What I can comment on is that everyone of the customers that I was aware of that we had, have been credited full refunds for any charges that had occured in the past billing cycle, month or any remaining amounts for prepaid accounts. I personally saw to this myself, so you will either see it show up on your credit card statement as a credit or you have already received it via Paypal as a refund depending on your billing method. I have also completely wiped out all billing and personal customer records except for the one back up that is in my attorneys possession. I did this to protect the privacy of those customers as well eliminate the chance of any potential illegal charges by the powers that now be. Any customer whom may have had servers or other hardware colocated through us, dont panic I also have this equipment in my possession and I will be contacting each of you today as to where you would like me to return or send it to. As for data backups and other website items. Unfortunately I was unable to gain access to these prior to my dismissal. I will make every effort I can to obtain this for you but I cant make any promises, if they even still exist. I am truely sorry for everything that has happened and I will make every effort I legally can to try to save face in this community, however I think it is beyond that now. I think this should put some of the rumors to rest now, about financial problems, plug being pulled, etc. If that was the case refunds wouldnt have been giving nor would hardware be returned. Regardless, what most of you are saying about me now, which I completely understand, it has been a true pleasure to have you as customers and clients. It is a pity it had to come to an end the way it did for both you and myself. I wish you all the best and thank you for your patronage in the past and hopefully your forgiveness and understanding in the present. Best Regards and God Bless Brian

Thanks. At least, I can get my server back.

Posted by pjlinke, 04-15-2003, 02:57 PM
Has anyone gotten their servers/backups back at all? PJ

Posted by pang, 04-15-2003, 04:21 PM
I can't get back my server and no responds after a week........ They shouldn't give me hope

Posted by N2QKG, 04-15-2003, 09:30 PM
I have a customer that has asked me for their contact information, I think they are turning it over to their lawyer, at least they realize that I have been trying to contact them with no response

Posted by case, 04-17-2003, 11:31 AM
first they rip everyone off for a month of service, then they go and steal thousands of dollars worth of equipment....what a bunch of losers......

Posted by pang, 04-17-2003, 11:45 AM
I want to get a lawyer also. However, it is not cost effective since I and my partner both in Hong Kong.

Posted by pjlinke, 04-22-2003, 10:34 AM
I thought about it too. My biggest problems have been my mailing lists and my domain name. I've tried to transfer it away from them and it has failed every time. PJ

Posted by case, 04-22-2003, 12:31 PM
Check this out, digitalxweb.net cant refund people or give there equipment back....but they can fight a chargeback. Oh well, ill win regardless because its a non qualified internet charge and no authorization signature was captured... it just baffles me why these "what i thought" were honest people would do this. Hopefully everything works out, if not i would call the police and report the computer stolen, i would also contact meridian telesis in philly about your equipment as well.

Posted by N2QKG, 04-22-2003, 08:33 PM
PJ TRY THIS LINK http://www.000domains.com/index.htm?...IGITALXWEB.NET IT IS STILL UP AND FOR THIER DOMAIN REGISTRATION, IF THAT DOES NOT HELP TRY CONTACTING 000DOMAINS DIRECTLY, THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO HELP YOU RECOVER YOUR DOMIAN

Posted by pang, 04-23-2003, 11:41 AM
I just received a email from Brian. He said he just sent back my server. Hope I will get my server back this time.

Posted by pjlinke, 04-23-2003, 11:52 AM
Congratulations Pang, It's good to hear Brian is still working to get things back to people. I was able to get my domain name back... oddly enough, when I did, I now how control over the digitalxweb domain name. hmmmm the damage I can do.. Muhahahaha. It expires in 2 days anyhow.

Posted by case, 04-23-2003, 01:48 PM
thats good news for everyone.....glad you got your domain back pj. Hopefully this time the server is actually coming. Im crossing my fingers for you guys that had servers with digitalxweb.

Posted by webtastic, 04-24-2003, 11:55 AM
Wow.. so DigitalXWeb are really out of business? The only dealings I had with them was buying Plesk licenses quite cheaply and Brian/Mike were *really* quick on support and always helpful. Shame to see them go

Posted by pjlinke, 04-24-2003, 12:05 PM
Yea, It certainly looks like it. Sounds like a rather nasty end to a great company. I always thought they were great. Super fast and friendly support, great sales team. It's a shame. PJ

Posted by twrs, 04-28-2003, 08:33 AM
I also bought and upgraded my Plesk license from them. I hope they can transfer it under my name. Cause as Plesk Gold partner, they have to purchase the licenses with their name

Posted by pang, 04-29-2003, 02:55 AM
I have got back the server. twrs, have you contacted Plesk? I think they should transfer the license to you.

Posted by twrs, 04-29-2003, 07:49 AM
Can Plesk help me out? I'm not sure but I'll try it.

Posted by pang, 04-29-2003, 08:55 AM
I don't know, but it is better than doing nothing

Posted by talia679, 05-15-2003, 08:29 AM
Has there been any recent news on the data backups? I was using Iwebbers ... who was using DigitalX, so if backups are being returned I'd like to contact the support staff at Iwebbers to see if I can get a hold of my information.

Posted by pjlinke, 05-15-2003, 09:23 AM
I haven't gotten anything back from them. PJ

Posted by N2QKG, 05-16-2003, 10:31 PM
Have not heard a word either
