Looking for a replacement for Ghoulnet
Posted by philofleeds, 06-18-2004, 06:23 PM |
Hi
I'm currently with Ghoulnet, who have performed fine for three years and have been absolute garbage for the last 4 months (three server crashes and an intermittent mail server leading to lots of lost mail).
I've been using a reseller account from them and using it all myself.
The current package is as follows;
1GB of space (split over 30 accounts).
Data transfer allocation is 50GB per month with a maximum of 5GB on any single account within your package.
Each account has all the usual stuff plus unlimited MySQL databases. Cost is £350 per year
Due to the fact that they have now proved to be too unreliable and the sites hosted on with them are now commercially valuable I need to go somewhere reliable. Cost isn't a major issue but I'd like to keep it reasonable.
We have 25-30 domains that need hosting. 6 or 7 of them are major, one of which is our main source of income, the balance are either small sites or holding pages (for now).
I am cautious about moving 30 sites, some fairly large sites, including two built purely on SQL and one relying heavily on cgi scripts, and content going back four years.
I've been recommended United Hosting so far.
a) Any thoughts on United
b) Any other places you'd recommend?
Can anyone recommend anything similar in terms of spec and price but I MUST HAVE reliability.
Cheers

I would suggest trying HostQuote at the top of this page....

You can also look at www.findmyhosting.com which is basically the same at HostQuote but there are probably quite a few more hosts to choose from as they have been around quite a few more years than HostQuote.
