Hi Guys,
Im kind of new to this but I will try my best to explain.
I have recently bought a server for which a want to use as a web server. So what i was wondering is.
What software will i need?
What is the best os for a web server?
How can I make it automated i.e. as soon as someone signs up it automatically starts a hosting account.
How do i set up dedicated i.ps for each account?
And how do i point a Domain registered from 123-reg and point it to my server?
Thanks in advance

Hold on. You just bought a server, and you need help setting it up?
Did it come with a CP? WHM, Parallels?
Linux or Windows for your server, most use Linux, and than you need to chose your distro like Cent, Red hat, etc..
For automatic account creation you can use billing software such as WHMCS or ClientExec and WHM, or any other Webhosting Manager they support.
For dedicated IPs you need to contact your host.
Login to your domain registrar, and go to your domain options, then change the NS records.

Assuming you have an empty server and no preference about OS, you could try CentOS and cPanel. Beyond that, you could use WHMCS. Those are popular choices.
But you may want to rethink the whole thing. If you have no experience doing this sort of thing, it will probably be easier for you to simply grab a reseller account at a host that already has everything set up.
As for a dedicated IP for each account, that is something to talk with your host or upstream network provider. They will need to put in an IP request. Keep in mind there will be restrictions on how IP addresses can and must be used. Simply giving a dedicated IP to each web hosting account won't fly because that is a serious waste of IP addresses.

Hi
Yes I bought a server not a dedcated server but a rackable server.
It is running on Ubuntu Server
I am familiar with cPanel and WHM and WHMCS i know WHMCS prices money but does cPanel ANd WHM?
I got my home networks name servers and added them to my registrars nameservers however to no avvail.

The server is running Ubuntu but i am thinking about changing it. Is CentOS the best for web servers?
I already have an Alpha Reseller and i want to take my business to the next level.
Are there any free control panels similar to cPanel and WHM?
I was also wondering is I could use the same server as a streaming server?
Thanks again

you cannot install cpanel /WHM on ubuntu.
centos is the most stable os right now used in most production servers.
Installing cpanel will get you webserver(apache),mysql, php etc.
