Looking for a Hosting Company

Posted by fisherfrank, 06-18-2004, 11:49 PM
Looking into becoming a reseller. I found a nice little niche of potential clients. I'm relying on your expertise as to whom I should do business with. Reliability and integrity goes a long with me. I also need about 10GB's of space to host, seeing that I could very well have 1000 clients within a matter of a couple weeks, and want to plan in advance for expandability. Please advise based on your experiences whom I should at least look at, if not to sign up with. Thank you in advance for you input. All is welcomed. Frank

If your serious about hosting 1000 clients on a single 10GB reseller hosting plan, I suggest you get yourself either a dedicated server or lose a few hundred clients. Keep in mind that if you do get setup on a reseller plan, the person/company who hosts you has other clients as well, other resellers with their own clients too...

Well, if you're that lucky to get that many clients, then Yes, dedicated is the way to go not reseller...

I know nothing about operating a server. Any advice?

get a managed server but you will still need to know how to operate cpanel/whm and other things.

have a look at the Shared and Reseller Hosting Offers and then search about each company experience here. there is no best host, there is best host for YOU

Hi fisherfrank If you expecting to host 1000 websites, a managed dedicated server is a must. There are some good reseller hosts around. Try hostquote. Search WHT/Google for the companies. Never choose a reseller company on price. You will loose far more $ from lost customers with a bad hosting company...even though they may offer everything for nothing. Best of luck.

If you are particular that you are going to get that many clients, definitely go for a dedicated server - FULLY managed. Get a server with a company that offers a fully managed service or get a server and pay a management company to secure it and teach you the ropes. I would say that even if you're guaranteed to get 100 clients, get the server. But of nothing's particular, get a reseller plan first. First decide on which control panel you're going to offer, Plesk and cPanel are very good choices so decide that and then decide reseller or dedicated and then research comapnies.

Either go with a managed solution or go dedicated and hire an admin since you're not familiar with with servers. Oftentimes, you can get a few pointers from the right admin on how to run things the right way.
