hi i'm thinking of starting a small hosting company, with resseller accounts. just wondering if there is enough market left for small hosting companies as there sooooooo many hosts around. do you lot get enough sales from online ads , adsence etc?

There is a market, you would likely have a better chance if you find a good niche to get into..

I always advise upstart clients to find that niche and try and hit the local market. The mainstream webhosting companies are plentiful, but there is always room for a good niche company. The local market often is untapped as well - people don't know they can get on the net for less than it prices for a yellow page ad in many cases.

If i am an Advertiser i will never go around atleast Google Adsense ! It's Too expensive & they don't give you much Signups ... I have advertised a bit for my site thier ... Spent like a total of $200 & got like just 2 signups through them !

Word of Mouth' is simply the most effective, and cheapest way to promote your business. Start bugging your friends, perhaps run an affiliate program and give them 80% of new sign ups. and I agree with Tamranda, Adsense is nonsense. Makes you go backrupt much sooner than you can 'sense'

Let's just say the success rate of any business is pretty bleak. The numbers sure don't show very promising results. LIke 75% or so fail within their first year.

I'm just curious where you draw this statistic from?

http://cpa.utk.edu/pdffiles/adc24.pdf Even though it is related to agriculture the article sets a large standard of things business should do and contains a wide variety of statistics. Last edited by cywkevin; 06-21-2004 at 01:48 AM.
