Cookie free domains and parallelize downloads

Hi, I am looking to optimize my website and reduce page load speed. Two suggestions which are still open are to use cookie free domains and parallelize downloads. I have a dedicated server, and would like to use CNAME to parallelize downloads for static content. How to turn cookies off for a domain? And how do I go about parallelize downloads using CNAME?
