Gazzin Report - I canceled my account
Posted by djchopstyx, 11-28-2004, 11:59 PM |
Greetings all, here to report my experience with Gazzin.com. Cheap resellers of Cpanel accounts, I hosted with them for 2.5 months.
I read someplace on here that they are fine for personal sites, ie (family and unimportant blog sites), yet to go with someone else for business accounts. I did not take this advice, but I urge you to heed this warning.
My experience was similar to iotc's
WHT /showthread.php?s=&threadid=345432
While support was generally responsive. I had to contact them constantly! Downtime was normally the issue, but mysql connections, blocked emails as their mailservers are constantly listed in spam databases. I've counted at least over 100 emails to them for different support issues.
When I asked them to fix a Squirrel Mail problem, they told me to use an email client (Outlook Express, Eudora, etc)... I asked them why do you provide webmail if you won't fix it? They professed to fix the problem when it never was after a lengthy exchange such as iotc's above. I'll give them credit for trying, but they didn't fix it, and I was spending too much time bug testing for them.
I found that I was spending way too much time troubleshooting their problems for them and way too much time dealing with angry clients. I decided to pay a little bit more for a WHT regarded host (BlueWho). I'm in my first couple of weeks with them with only ONE transfer problem, which was resolved quickly.
I can only recommend Gazzin for William's responsive support. But, in a hosting provider, I don't want to contact support that much. Constantly contacting support means there are problems.
I wish them luck, but I was sick of being a beta tester.
Thanks,

Hi Dj,
I am terribly sorry it didnt work out for you. As for the sqruirrelmail issue there has been one report where one is timedout after idling in a squirrelmail webmail. We have techs fixing the timeouts, etc which were changed. I believe there hasnt been much reply after we did the fix. Thus the ticket marked as closed.

I was with Gazzin briefly but incessant downtime caused me to move on. I was getting four or five warnings a day from siteuptime and easymonitor. William was earnest enough and obviously cared, but things just didn't get fixed.

William is already aware of what happened but there will be changes within weeks to come for stabilization.
Until then good luck on your future business ventures.

I'v been trying them for sometime, i have a reseller account there, i do agree that there has been downtime but i think there doing their best to solve things, iam not hosting any important sites there since i also have a dedicated box, but i do believe in them and hope things move towards the better with the latest upgrades.
There has been downtime in the last two days but as i understood it wasnt their problem, a mai switch got burned in DC and thats what caused the downtime.

Then why do bad things always happen to Gazzin?

I actually donot know, but if i remove the latest downtime that i mentioned because of that switch i would have a total of 99.3% total uptime which i think is pretty good compared to their costs, and the fast support. comeon for 10 bucks you would get 7.5 GB's and 80GB bandwidth, i didnt expect any kind of support with that price, which i did get. So all in all i think they are good.

I was on the Panda server.
Clanosiris said they fixed the Squirrel Mail problem.... but after 20 emails between myself and Gazzin's tech staff, and them SAYING the problem was fixed, when it wasn't, I decided to tell my clients to not use Squirrel Mail, which is sad now as I have a great working Squirrel Mail system.
Their fix for Squirrel Mail timeouts was to change a setting in the client. I can't do that for each and every person that has an email account on my server as I don't administer those accounts, my clients do. It's just seemed to be a little hokey.
Dactyl says: "comeon for 10 bucks you would get 7.5 GB's and 80GB bandwidth, i didnt expect any kind of support with that price, which i did get. So all in all i think they are good"
My response to this is he's exactly right... I was on their support forums at one point asking if this was a situation of "you get what you pay for."
But, support is not what I'm looking for. I am looking for a reliable host. If I have to shell out (minimum) $10 more to avoid 8 hours per month of my own time troubleshooting, that's an expense I can incur.
Hope this all helps.
