[Warning] Equivity.com - lot's of bad stuff

Posted by WebDesignGT, 11-18-2004, 12:55 AM
I just cancelled my account with Equivity (www.Equivity.com) after about 7 months with them as my reseller. I hadn't had a reseller account with anyone else before, so I didn't have a basis for comparison. Their uptime wasn't too bad overall, and the speed wasn't horrendous. It was slow and bottlenecked a lot, though. Equivity fills up their servers too much and makes them too crowded. The worst part about my experience was dealing with Support. They treat you like an idiot, talk down to you, and are a lot of the times flat out RUDE. To me, this is unacceptable. If you ever have a problem with something, it is always your fault - something you are doing wrong on your computer. I won't go into detail, because I want to go to bed, but there were numerous times when I had a problem that I KNEW wasn't my fault, because I hadn't changed a single thing on my end, and they said the server is fine. I doubt they even checked it. Either way, if you are considering signing up with Equivity... let this be your warning. I just signed up with www.ASmallOrange.com - from numerous recommendations, and everything has been incredible. Tim was able to do so much for me to help me transfer 68 websites and more. I love their site, I love their support, they're fast and friendly. They also don't put too many accounts on a server. There you have it, there's my 2 cents.

I was with equivity a while back and it wasn't that bad, though I can see it was moving towards the direction thus I left. Guess I left at the right time huh Anyhow hope your new 'home' would be a better one Last edited by rois; 11-18-2004 at 01:43 AM.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. There is never an excuse to treat a client in a rude or disrespectfull manor! I understand that it can be frustrating at times to go over things that may be somewhat easy but reps really need to start putting themselves in users shoes! Good luck with your new host!

I had a brief - and bad - experience with equivity last summer, too : I emailed them BEFORE ordering an account, explaining exactly what I needed (3 pretty active forums with 10-30 users online each, 50 go transfer / month). They told me this wouldn't be a problem for them. And 5 days later, I was given 24 hours to move to a semi-dedicated solution Funny : I found asmallorange.com, too, my sites were transfered and running 2 hours after ordering and I just can say the same as WebHostingGT I'm there since nearly 4 months now and very very happy !

Amazing difference, huh? :-) Everyone else, thanks for all the replies and condolences. I'm sure my experience with asmallorange will far surpass my last, as it already has begun to.

I'm currently trapped at equitity (!) but as soon as I can I'm out of there. I can not believe how badly served I've been.

Yeah, I definitely recommend going with A Small Orange once you ditch Equivity. And if you do, don't forget who referred you. (you get a month's free hosting if you refer someone - just put in their URL!)

How are you STUCK with them? Last time I checked paying customers are in control! Good Luck!
