best provider for quality dedicated servers?
Posted by roasted, 01-07-2005, 11:44 PM Looking to resell dedicated servers for gaming purposes. Anyone give me some advice on who provides the most high quality dedicated servers? low ping times on a fat pipe are a must I am a webmaster and run various different sites, but this is my first step into the hosting world so I'm still learning the ins and outs. How much of the process is usually automated by the hosting provider (not me, the company i'm reselling for)? I understand I'm responsible for providing the backend and my own support. I also realize there are 1000 other hosting companies out there, I have my own source of clients, so I'm not really word about that aspect of the business. Just trying to get things going in the right direction with a quality dedicated server provider.
Posted by rv_irl, 01-08-2005, 01:43 AM We resell Superb servers, however the management is done by our techs for the clients. They offer a great reseller service, so we can actually provide the servers and services cheaper than Superb do yet with the same quality (which is great). I haven't really tested the servers we use for gaming purposes although Server Matrix (www.servermatrix.com) offers a gaming servers now with a Cortex control panel for installing games etc which is a great plus. I would suggest you talk to them about reselling. Other than that, if you are looking to do this on a mass scale, colocation would be better suited because you can preload the games and have everything sorted before hand. Not to mention you can customise the server to better match the needs for gaming rather than web hosting. More RAM would generally be needed for gaming. Hope that helps, Rameen
