Which Reseller to go?? SurfSpeedy, Site5, HostGator?

Posted by joephill, 12-27-2004, 11:56 AM
I was thinking of getting a new reseller plan. Apparently SurfSpeedy seems to be the best because they have 99.99% uptime and they pay you for excessive downtime. Plus they offer clientexec and from what I seem to have tired the support is excellent always someone on live chat even now on the holiday season. I was also considering host gator or site 5.. what do you guys think?

You should do a search on this forum for surfspeedy and read the feedback. Otherwise this thread has been done a million times over, but heres the recap . Both hostgator and site5 are great companies. Either way you will probally be satisfied.

whats the problem with surfspeedy?? They seem to be so good... I read from past posts that they have some severe TOS and they terminate the sites if they wish ... Is that true?? Thx

Solution: Read the TOS of those hosts and compare them. That way you'll know for sure whether surfspeedy's is more severe or not. It'll take you a while, but at least you'll know exactly what each host permits and what not. Virtually all hosts reserve the right to terminate accounts under particular conditions (server resources abuse, spam, unappropriate content etc)

HostGator is nice because they offer a 30 day money back guarantee. I have also not had many problems with them.

I haven't read too many things about Site5 although I'm sure there's a lot available on WHT to read. However, I've heard good things about HostGator that I would (if I needed to) go with them of the three you mentioned. Roj

Btw, I take back my comments about HostGator after reading some of the other recent threads in the forums. I have no clue about site5 though... Roj

I've been using SurfSpeedy for 3 months, they were really good for 2 months but for more than 2 weeks they have a DNS issue which they could not get over. I also have some trouble tickets which are not replied. I am considering moving on somewhere else..

I've been with HostGator since June and like what they offer. However, today, I've had an issue and I've been unable to get any kind of support. At 9:00 am ET, I started a chat with jule. After greeting me and asking what the questions is, I never heard from her again. I've called multiple times, been placed on hold and then disconnected before ever speaking with a live person. The last few times I called, I just got a busy signal. I called the 561 area code phone number and that lets me leave a message, but nobody has responded. I emailed this morning at 10:17 AM ET, got the autoresponse within a minute or two, but have not heard anohter word. I truly hope my issue can be fixed. I don't want to switch, but I may have to. I suspect that they are overwhelmed by the "supra" server disaster they've been wrestling with for many days... almost a week? There are many resellers and hosting customers who are really pissed at the moment with HG due to that problem and the present lack of responsiveness... as well as consistency in communication.

David phones have been overwhelmed. We have been doing all tickets. Please pm me your ticket number. Communication on supra has been excellent we posted non stop updates. The problem was a nightmare and we posted a resolution today. Not the best one but everyone is up and we can move on.
