Problems with disk drives

We could offer almost 100% of uptime for our clients but there is one problem that happens: - sometimes file system goes to read only - sometimes we need to run fsck - sometimes one or another disk drive in raid array dies or degrades and so on.. Every time it results on longer or shorted downtime to fix it. When you have many servers it happens and happens. Do you guys have any solutions how to minimize such disk drive problems?

This seems to be an HDD issue. You need to have the data center check for any problems and get it replaced, if needed.

HDDs faults are normal, everything has its age. Anyway you should always monitor your HDDs and RAID health to prevent such situations.

It is not hdd problem, I think all web hosts experience this. Some servers never have any issue for 4 years, other servers have hhd failure in just few weeks. It is these any way to completely avoid any type of hhd failures? At least that it would not result in downtime.

A decent RAID card with 4 or more hot-swappable disks (and a hot spare) in a RAID-6 configuration would go a long way to mitigate these types of problems.
